Description

_The __Parish of St George's in New Glasgow_
_, Nova Scotia, is seeking an experienced full-time Interim Rector with strong management, people, and pastoral skills for a two-year contract position._

About our Town and Parish Community

New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, is a beautiful riverside town of over 10,000 residents, located in northern Nova Scotia, which serves as the commercial/service centre for the region of Pictou County. The tree-lined streets of New Glasgow reveal impressive Victorian architecture with many beautifully crafted buildings and homes made of sandstone and brick. New Glasgow has quality educational facilities, a regional hospital, a performing arts theatre, a regional library, a full-service marina, two groomed walking trails, several parks and playgrounds, franchised accommodations and a diverse selection of restaurants and entertainment.

St George's is a beautiful, well-maintained church (opened in 1908) located close to the downtown area. It has a church hall (with a fully equipped kitchen) and is wheelchair accessible with a lift.

There is no rectory, therefore we will assist in identifying appropriate housing (i.e., apartment/house rental or purchase) in the area and provide a housing allowance.

St George's encompasses a small, older, but dedicated, demographic. Many families have a long history as parishioners of St George's church family. We value fellowship, music, pastoral care, and spiritual development. Currently we have a few young families and are looking to establish a regular Sunday School.

We appreciate a worship style that is creative, reflective and that connects with our church family. Sunday Services are live streamed every week for those who are unable to attend in-person worship. Presently, we have one Licensed Lay Minister, an organist (playing a Casavant pipe organ), and a small choir. Our Parish Council is an effective group committed in their role as stewards of the church and parish.

Many of our ministries were paused due to COVID-19, but we are eagerly seeking new ways of bringing Christ's love out into our community.

About this unique opportunity

We are now seeking an Interim Rector who will work with our congregation to reach out to the community to help us make St George's presence more visible and inviting.

George's is an exciting opportunity for you to join this community of faith as we take an intentional time to seek spiritual and organizational renewal, to rediscover our identity, and to revitalize our mission.

St. George's is a progressive, affirming faith community. We welcome a priest who will lead us well in relevant, future-oriented ministry.

In particular, we require a confident, loving Priest who will skillfully guide us:

- _out of a season of disruption and change, to help position the parish spiritually, pastorally and organizationally;_
- _to situate and prepare the parish to adapt and to take the appropriate next steps to navigate the demographic changes in the surrounding community and post
- pandemic cultural shifts;_
- _as a faith community to rediscover their identity, and cultivate a passion and missional focus in order to serve their neighbourhood_.
