Our highly skilled workforce provides services that include all elements of facilities maintenance, airfield operations, food services, transport and logístical/administrative support to our customer, the Department of National Defence (DND).

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A DRAFTING TECHNICIAN

The Drafting Technician will support the provision of engineering services including design and technical maintenance support, for various mechanical, electrical, and civil infrastructure in the arctic environment for Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Alert.


Key Accountabilities

  • Maintains current Site Record drawings based on approved markups from maintenance work or inspections using AutoCAD and MS Excel.
  • Creates new Engineering Project drawings from engineering design sketches and markups of Site Record drawings.
  • Revises Site Record drawings and update drawings from redline drawings.
  • Meets with engineers and discusses the components that are needed to produce engineering drawings.
  • Ensures all drawings and documents are created and maintained to the Department of National Defense standards for Engineering drawings and practices.
  • Organizes and maintains filing system of digital drawings, including coordination with engineers for production of sealed engineering drawings and CFS Alert Library for release of drawing revisions. Maintain master files.
  • Transfer hardcopy asset information to Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD)
  • Scans printed archival or asbuilt drawings as change control records.
  • Reproduce drawings for DND authorized clients.
  • Perform other duties assigned by a higher authority, which are unplanned or of a transient nature

Qualifications:


  • Completion of a Technology on Architectural and/or Engineering, Junior Architect, Computer Aided Design and Drafting diploma, certificate or similar
  • Autodesk Certified Professional in AutoCAD for Design and Drafting is a benefit
  • Must be eligible for RELIABILITY security clearance, and must pass a company preemployment medical

Required Competencies and Skills:


  • Related experience working with:
  • Computer Aided Design and Drafting
  • AutoCAD 2016 or later (2023 version to be used)
  • Creating and maintain technical documentation
  • Multiple engineering disciplines: Civil, Mechanical and Electrical
  • Ability to present and explain technical information to engineering team.
  • Knowledge of industry drawings standards, familiarity with Government of Canada standards a benefit.
  • Proficient with MS Word and Excel and previous knowledge/use of databases
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities, work well in a changing environment and possesses a sense of urgency
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent work ethic, professionalism and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work crossculturally and a strong team player is a must; will need to roll up sleeves and pitch in as and when required
