Stripe Billing Integration for SaaS Subscriptions

Job description
OverviewWe're looking for an experienced Stripe developer to help us set up and integrate Stripe for a SaaS product with subscriptions.
The focus is Stripe Billing/Subscriptions, a reliable webhook-driven sync, and a production-ready subscription lifecycle (signup → upgrade/downgrade → cancel → reactivation).
Goals / Outcome- Subscription checkout flow live (Test → Live)
- Plan changes, cancellations, renewals work reliably
- Our system stays in sync via Stripe webhooks (signature verification, idempotency, retries)
Scope (please confirm in your proposal):
1) Stripe Setup & Billing Model
- Configure Products/Prices (monthly/yearly), trials, coupons/discounts, proration behavior
- Recommend the right approach (Stripe Checkout + Billing vs. custom flow)
- Signup → create customer + subscription
- Upgrade/downgrade flows
- Cancel (end of period / immediate) and handling failed payments (dunning) if relevant
- Secure webhook processing (signature verification, idempotency, safe retries)
- Handle relevant events (subscription, invoice, payment_intent, checkout.session, etc.)
- Test plan using Stripe test mode + Stripe CLI
- Deployment checklist + short handoff session/documentation

Deliverables / Acceptance Criteria
- Working implementation (repo/PR)
- Documentation: Stripe object model, webhook events handled, status mapping, test flow
- Testmode demo: create subscription, generate invoice, upgrade/downgrade, cancel, renew/reactivate
- Proven experience with Stripe Billing / Subscriptions (not just payments)
- Productiongrade webhook implementation (signature verification + reliable event processing)
- SaaS subscription logic (entitlements/feature access based on subscription status)
- Usagebased / metered billing
- EU VAT / tax handling (Stripe Tax)
- Which Stripe components would you recommend for our SaaS subscriptions (Billing/Checkout/Portal) and why?
- Which webhook events do you consider mandatory for a subscription setup?
- How do you ensure idempotent processing + secure signature verification?
- Share 1–2 relevant examples/case studies (short summary is enough)
Start with a short paid discovery/audit milestone (e.g., 1–2 hours) and then continue with implementation milestones.
Contract duration of 1 to 3 months. with 30 hours per week.
