    NOTE: This is a temporary position ending on or before 9 months from start date with the possibility of extension.

    An opportunity exists in NAIT's Marketing and Communications department for a Web Designer to be part of NAIT's web team. Reporting to the Digital Production Analyst, this position is responsible for the visual identity, design, creation, planning and ongoing development of NAIT's web presence. This role will work closely with various Marketing and Communications personnel to ensure NAIT's websites are used as an effective and dynamic communication tool.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver results through the creation of leading-edge design and interactive components resulting in engaging web solutions for internal customers.
  • Coordinate with web developers and web specialists on custom website and web application elements.
  • Review and translate website analytics and insights into experiences that are personalized and targeted for the intended audiences
  • Ensure compatibility of web applications across all screen sizes and device specifications
  • Coordinate graphic and media production with developers/designers and other specialists.
  • Collaborate with content marketing specialists, user experience and digital analytics specialists to update and optimize web content design Skills & Abilities:
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and be a strong team player.
  • Strong verbal communications skills and will be able to discuss and brainstorm visual concepts with other non-technical colleagues.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma and other web prototyping tools.
  • Expertise in design principles and an understanding of user experience design.
  • Experience working in, designing and developing for content management systems.
  • Strong knowledge of front-end web development languages and frameworks (HTML, CSS, JS, Vue).
  • Knowledge of emerging online-based communication tools.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing practices and techniques are an asset. Qualifications:
  • Completion of Grade twelve
  • Related Post-secondary Diploma (2 year) or degree in visual arts or web design.
  • Considerable experience in the field of multimedia, web design and/or e-commerce.
  • Equivalencies may be considered Remuneration: $59, $79,497.34 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification - Technologist III).

    This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
