Gay Lea Foods is looking for a Production Manager to join our Bothwell facility.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will oversee and direct the safe and efficient manufacturing, processing and the packaging of our products.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily operations with regards to efficiencies, production volumes and KPIs with a safety and food quality mindset.
Foster and maintain a positive culture by ensuring all employees are treated with respect, complaints are dealt with in a timely manner and employees are communicated with openly.
Maintain health & safety and environmental standards and support a positive safety culture.
Lead meetings and projects to optimize production and packaging operations.
Work closely with the Quality Department to ensure plant compliance to SQF, CFIA (government regulations) and company specifications for HACCP, sanitation, and safety through supportive collaboration with appropriate personnel. Support the Quality culture in the plant.
Drive cost savings goals using sustainable continuous improvement tools.
Manage the performance and development of production and packaging through the Supervisory team.
Provide guidance to production & packaging supervisors regarding workload of staff, performance management, hiring and terminations and employee disciplinary matters.
Report production and packaging volumes, efficiencies, and yields.
Drive cost reductions across all aspects of manufacturing including increased line efficiency, waste control and higher labour productivity.

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years' experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably in dairy/cheese production.
University degree in one of the following disciplines: Food Science, Business or Operations Management an asset.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to mitigate conflict and build teams.
Flexibility to adapt to a 24 hr/ 7day operation schedule.
Proven decisionmaking ability using various analytical tools, such as variance reports and down time analysis.
Extensive knowledge in GMPs, HACCP and health and safety standards is preferred.
Cultural sensitivity and an ability to build rapport with a diverse workforce in multicultural settings.
Strong proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and WMS/ERP.
