The Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (EFry) is a charitable organization that supports women, girls, and children at risk, involved in or affected by cycles of poverty, addiction, mental illness, homelessness, and crime.


With a main office located in the unceded, traditional territories of the Coast Salish peoples in what is now called New Westminster, this is a meaningful opportunity to join the Executive Leadership Team of an impactful and highly regarded not-for-profit organization that delivers a wide range of programs and services across Metro Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia.


Reporting to the CEO, the Managing Director of Programs, oversees program operations working in collaboration with the Program Directors, including program and staff planning, setting of KPIs, tracking funding, and providing support and coaching to the Program Directors and Supervisors. The Managing Director of Programs and the Executive Director of Fund Development are the key leaders in advising the CEO on opportunities for sustainability and expansion.


As the Managing Director of Programs for the organization, this leader demonstrates strong people leadership to direct reports and all EFry staff and brings best practices to building a consistent and strong culture that embraces equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging using improved training, coaching, engagement, and performance monitoring across the organization.

In conjunction with the CEO, this leader establishes effective processes for programming, including key performance measures and cost effectiveness to ensure a high level of program delivery to EFry clientele.

Responsibilities:


  • Working in partnership with the CEO,implements strategic plan objectives, and in conjunction with Program Directors implements new processes and approaches to achieve program success.
  • Responsible for increasing program effectiveness and strengthening leadership capacity in over 29 programs EFry hosts.
  • Coordinates the annual work plan for operations and produces Annual Program Reviews.
  • Leads the performance management process across programs, that measures and evaluates progress against goals for the organization.
  • Provides strong daytoday leadership presence and fosters an opendoor policy for all staff; bridging EFry's program operations throughout the Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley
  • Leads and manages a team of direct reports including Director of Housing and Homelessness, Director of Social Justice and Equity, Director of Clinical Services, and the Kids First Program.
  • Leads impactful program initiatives at EFry while maintaining high service standards. The Managing Director of Programs oversees contract renewals with partners, develops tailored curriculum and tools, ensures costeffective program operations, and cultivates strategic relationships with governmental stakeholders to support EFry's mission, operations, and contracts.
  • Drive the establishment of a culture focused on continuous quality improvement and coaching, in line with the CEO's strategic vision.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, ED of Fund Development and Partnerships and the Director of Finance on oversite of Information Technology, Fundraising and Program Development and Grants

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required; master's or similar advanced degree in leadership, business administration and/or counselling is highly desirable. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and growth.
  • At least 10 years of experience in corrections, youth justice, counselling/addiction services and homelessness preferably in the Lower Mainland.
  • Demonstrated success in exceeding goals and maintaining a bottomline focus within a clientcentered framework.
  • Proven ability to consistently make sound decisions by leveraging analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.
  • Exceptional business acumen, including successful management of Profit and Loss statements.
Proficiency in balancing program delivery with budget constraints.

  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into the organizational plan.
  • Ability to effectively build organization and staff capacity, maintaining EFry's gender responsive, leadingedge workforce and the processes that ensure the programs run smoothly and have the capacity to respond to emerging needs.
  • Outstanding aptitude for managing and inspiring teams, demonstrated by a track record of success in scaling up organizations.
  • Proficiency in fostering connections among staff at both individual and group levels.
