Alavida Lifestyles is seeking a
Food Service Manager for our retirement community in
Orleans, ON.

Under the direction of the General Manager, the Food Service Manager is accountable for the Food Service in our Seniors' Suites and Retirement Residence buildings (2 kitchens, 2 dining rooms, 2 bistros), including operations, day to day management, purchasing, scheduling, staff, menu development, planning and execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES_

  • Ensure that food services are delivered according to legislation while meeting the needs of the Residents
  • Interview Residents to assess their dietary needs, restrictions, likes and dislikes, in collaboration with the Director of Care
  • Recruit, hire, train and manage food service staff, in collaboration with the General Manager
  • Create and manage schedules and oversee the job performance of cooks, prep cooks, servers and dishwashers
  • Create a four week menu cycle that provides variety and choice in accordance with the Canada Food Guide, and accommodates food allergies and sensitivities
  • Prepare food services budget and monitor monthly compliance
  • Order and receive food from preferred suppliers and according to a prescribed budget
  • Ensures that standards of sanitation are met
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS_

  • Graduate of recognized Culinary Management course OR minimum 3 years experience managing a kitchen OR equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a volume food preparation setting, such as a retirement residence, hospital or hotel is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience providing creative and tasty menu options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and low sodium diets is an asset
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Proficiency using Outlook, Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets
  • Highly organized and able to work independently

Job Types:

Pay:
$55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
