    About this opportunity:

    Cenovus is currently looking for a Senior Reservoir Engineer to join the Conventional Heavy Oil asset team in Calgary.

    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Conventional Heavy Oil Reservoir and Production Engineering, the Senior Reservoir Engineer, Conventional Heavy Oil (CHO) will work within a technical team responsible for optimizing Conventional Heavy Oil assets and progressing development of Cenovus's strategy within the Conventional Heavy Oil asset base located in the Lloydminster area of Saskatchewan and Alberta. The candidate will work in a multidiscipline technical and business environment to provide subsurface reservoir engineering expertise across a variety of areas and projects.

    Responsibilities:

    • Translate strategy and priorities into development plans and actions
    • Maximize value of existing Conventional Heavy Oil assets by working collaboratively with asset team members (Reservoir, Geoscience, Production, Field Operations and Mineral Land)
    • Research, evaluate and recommend improvements to Primary and EOR processes, recommend completion/workover candidates to maximize value through optimization of oil and gas production
    • Provide reservoir engineering input to evaluation and design of Conventional Heavy Oil projects, long-range planning
    • Provide reservoir modeling to enhance our current EOR projects and determine design of future primary and EOR projects
    • Participate in project lookbacks to improve well design and performance
    • Advance development projects by providing inputs for design of wells, facilities and pipelines
    • Support evaluation of reserves for Conventional Heavy Oil assets

    Qualifications:

    • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
    • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) accredited with APEGA/APEGS
    • 8+ years of reservoir/production engineering experience
    • Experience designing and implementing water/polymer flood operations is an asset
    • Experience/capability in economic evaluation
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
    • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts quickly
    • Proficiency in AccuMap, PVR, SCADA, Spotfire, Value Navigator
    • Experience in reservoir simulation is an asset
    • Experience in Python, SQL, VBA programming is an asset
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
    • Models the values of Cenovus in all interactions and activities
