Summary
Western Industrial Services Ltd. is a coatings industry leader providing specialty services for industrial and heavy commercial capital projects, facility shutdowns and routine maintenance. The Estimator will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of estimates for field and shop projects. This individual's accuracy is critical to the profitability of the business, as underestimates may cause significant financial losses and overestimates may result in the inability to win bids.

Job Duties:
- Study and analyze proposals, bid packages, drawings and specifications to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
- Prepare cost estimates of materials, labour and equipment necessary to successfully carry out a project according to proposals, plans, estimates and specifications
- Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work
- Prepare and maintain current list of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors and obtain quotes/prices as necessary
- Maintain files of working documents as backup for estimate figures, including accurate information on prices/costs
- Attend prebid meetings for clarification
- Follow up on submitted bids and budgets with Engineers and other representatives and/or Construction Managers to close business.
- Evaluate and recommend allowances for indirect costs, unknowns, escalation and contingency.
- Review all final estimate packages, addenda and RFI's to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to formal quotation.
- Present estimates and conduct review meetings with clients.
- Support other department personnel as required which may include preparing estimates for other disciplines.
- Determine effective bid strategies together with senior management.
- Provide technical assistance in negotiating contracts, change orders, etc. as required.
- Ensure the contract is reviewed and properly executed prior to acceptance.
- Perform additional assignments as required.
Requirements:
- 35 years of direct work experience in Estimating within the Construction Industry.
- Ability to read mechanical and structural drawings and specifications is required. Experience in mechanical contracting or industrial coatings an asset.
- NACE or SSPC certification an asset
- Highly effective negotiation, diplomatic, problem solving and conflict resolutions skills.
- Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including field, technical, professional, and upper management.
- Ability to create and edit project documents, materials, and presentations.
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers, subcontractors, employees and other stakeholders.
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines.
Working conditions:
- Willingness to travel if required.

- Able to attend and conduct presentations.
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Position predominantly requires office attendance.

Salary:
$55,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
