The Organization


Métis Crossing is Alberta's first major Métis destination where we share and celebrate the Métis culture with all people With their unique designs that combine both traditional and contemporary Métis craftmanship, The Lodge and the Gathering Centre at Métis Crossing are special blends of comfort, culture, and Métis history.

Directly adjacent to the Cultural Gathering Centre, our 40-room boutique Lodge offers scenic views overlooking the majestic North Saskatchewan River, the very route used by our Métis ancestors as they gathered here to trade.

The Cultural Gathering Centre is the base for all our cultural and educational programs.

The Lodge offers a Bistro for coffee and express breakfast, as well as a Lounge for cocktails and light snacks.

Together they are an ideal location for corporate and government retreats as well as family gatherings.


The Opportunity
Métis Crossing is the first major Métis cultural interpretive center in Alberta. Métis Crossing endeavours to preserve, strengthen, and promote the cultural heritage of Alberta's Metis people.

Reflective of our communities and cultural landscapes, programming is based on research, collection, and presentation of Metis traditions, lifeways, and cultural artifacts.

We strive to incorporate a continuum of Métis achievement, both historical and contemporary.


Métis Crossing seeks applicants for the position of "
Room Attendant" will work diligently to ensure our guestrooms, bathrooms, public spaces, and laundry services are maintained to the highest standards, thus showcasing the rich narrative of the Métis experience through the immaculate upkeep of our premises.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all housekeeping duties as assigned, following the Métis Crossing room cleaning procedures.
  • Adhere to all the Lodge's standards, including Hygiene and Health and Safety.
  • Clean guestrooms, including strip checkout rooms, make beds, dust, vacuum, clean and sanitize all surfaces.
  • Clean bathrooms, including sanitize all surfaces, sinks, taps, vanities, mirrors, tubs, showers, walls, and toilets.
  • Wash doors, windows, walls or public areas and guest rooms. Spot clean partitions, light switches, and windowsills.
  • Set up and move furniture in guest rooms.
  • Daily removal and transport of soil linens and garbage from rooms.
  • Process laundry, including washing, drying, sorting, and folding.
  • Submit lost and found items to the Guest Services Supervisor.
  • Report inventory discrepancies to the Guest Services Supervisor.
  • Ensure work areas, housekeeping room, and equipment are always kept clean and organized.
  • Assisting guests, when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with housekeeping duties and knowledge of cleaning processes. Previous Housekeeping experience would be an asset.
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Level C First Aid/CPR would be an asset.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain WHMIS certification.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Fluency in English is required.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with coworkers, guests, etc.
  • Ability to work individually with little supervision, as well as part of a team.
  • Strong cultural sensitivity.
  • High level of professionalism and motivation.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Must possess basic computational skills.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding area (including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, standing, reaching, and kneeling).
  • Knowledge of Alberta history and cultural diversity an asset.
  • Knowledge of Métis culture, history, and issues affecting Métis people an asset.

Other Requirements

  • Availability to work a mixed schedule of days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Ability to work at Métis Crossing in Smoky Lake.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check required.

Employment Details:


  • Schedule will be based on a 30hour work week, and will include weekdays, weekends, and holiday.
