About the Opportunity:


Reporting to the Provincial Director, Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness, and working as part of the leadership team, the zone based Lead will provide advice and services on matters of Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness at the zonal level.

The zone based Lead, Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness will contribute and oversee zonal processes and policies in attendance management, performance planning, occupational health, safety and wellness.

The zone based lead ensures compliance with direction set at the level of the zone, and through implementation of policies and processes, ensures continuous improvement to advance a vision of excellence within his/her areas of responsibility.

This will include monitoring of quality programs, and compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and accreditation requirements within the zone.

The zone based Lead will also work with IWK on the provision of shared services related to health, safety and wellness, where appropriate, and with other education institutions, government and other partners to meet current and future human resource requirements, such as:

  • occupational health and wellness
- respectful workplace culture
- employee assistances services
- employee helpline
- safety programs (occupational, radiation, fire)
- safety audit and workplace investigations
- awareness and injury prevention initiatives
- health workplace and wellness initiatives
- absenteeism, attendance & disability case management
- workers compensation


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, health, business, public administration, or a related field or a combination of education and 10 years' progressive leadership experience.
  • Master's degree is an asset
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in progressive leadership positions involved in planning and delivering comprehensive occupational Health services within a complex, integrated service model provided throughout several locations with multiple partners and stakeholders
  • Knowledge of and management experience in developing and managing programs related to health, safety and wellness
  • Experience as a strategic advisor and operational leader within a complex organization, enabling change.
  • Experience in project management principles and implementation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of policy impact and development
  • Knowledge of health care organizations and the health sector
  • Comfortable leading in a unionized context
  • Ability to build engagement among peers and business leaders to support new strategies and change management
  • High level of competence in both written and verbal communication.
  • Experience working with diversity of staff and stakeholders, with knowledge of cultural competence, diversity and social inclusion
  • Ability to analyse and interpret statistical data, and monitor quality and performance indicators and benchmarks related to the workforce.
  • Sound knowledge of information systems and financial management

Hours:


  • Permanent Fulltime position; 75 hours biweekly
  • Monday to Friday with rotational weekend on call
  • Travel will be required within the province
  • Hybrid work program

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $55.11 Hourly
