Procurement Services provides services to Public Safety and Emergency Services. Working alongside its partners in law enforcement, the Alberta Emergency Management Agency and other stakeholders.

The procurement of goods and services to meet the many diverse business needs within the ministry offer unique and challenging experiences.


Role Responsibilities:


The Procurement Officer is essential to the Ministry's procurement and contracting function and is significant in providing guidance and expertise required to deliver a diverse portfolio of goods and services.


Reporting to a Procurement Manager, the Procurement Officer will be viewed as a knowledgeable advisor with expertise in managing risk related to procurement and facilitating the procurement process.

As a primary contact and resource for the procurement program and related processes, you will collaborate with program area representatives to ensure their procurement requirements are clearly defined in order to achieve the business area's requirements.


This position will require you to demonstrate:

  • Welldeveloped organizational and time management skills to work independently on multiple projects and tasks to prioritize work and manage competing priorities effective.
  • Strong and broadbased computer skills, including use of word processing, spreadsheet, databases and presentation packages.
  • Strong abilities in verbal, written communication skills, negotiation, discretion, diplomacy, problem solving, strategy, analysis, judgment, consulting skills are required to address the sensitivity and diversity of issues addressed by this position.

  • Analytical, research, and problemsolving skills to develop and recommend solutions for complex issues, and investigate and analyze product options.

Qualifications:


University degree in a related field, such as Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:1 year of education for 1 year of experience, or

1 year of experience for 1 year of education
