In this position, you will provide technical expertise and support to peers, associates and management by working closely with stakeholders to maintain technical infrastructure solutions to identified business needs for administrators, teachers, students and parents.

You will support the Division's critical enterprise client/server infrastructure including managing the data centre clusters, servers, and storage solutions.

The Enterprise Data Centre Technician also ensures that these systems and their associated data can be rapidly restored to operation in the event of a disaster.

Core responsibilities include working diligently to support and maintain a highly available virtualized environment in the division's data centres.

Including collaborating with various teams to implement and maintain robust security best practices and processes within the data centre environment.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage the enterprise infrastructure environment in the Division data centre.
  • Offer technical assistance in specialized areas while actively collaborating with project teams to implement solutions that provide comprehensive enterprise solutions to meet identified requirements.
  • Provide technical support and assist in training less experienced staff, prepare written instructions to aid staff in understanding.
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the Divisions' IP address management system, DHCP, and DNS environments.
  • Upgrade, tune and troubleshoot problems related to all infrastructure systems located in the Division's data centre.
  • Monitor the Division's enterprise information systems to identify potential problems or bottlenecks.
  • Ensure that the Division's backup infrastructure is supported, maintained, and regularly tested.
  • Manage the Division identity automation systems through a range of highly detailed operations. These tasks include group management, password management, and the provision of multifactor authentication (MFA) access to resources.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through a range of professional development activities.
  • Support and maintain a hypervisor environment ensuring that the hypervisor, compute and storage of the virtual machines is always highly available and performing optimally.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in computer systems or equivalent experience, seven years of directly related experience working with a range of disciplines and programs.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting local and wide area network problems, Active Directory problems including DNS, TCPIP.
  • Indepth knowledge of Hyper-V design and configuration.
  • Awareness of security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Indepth working knowledge of Microsoft's active directory (AD).
  • Knowledge of enterprise services such as DNS, DHCP, IPAM, IIS, SQL.
  • Knowledge of troubleshooting principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of safe workplaces and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety regulations and legislation.
  • Knowledge of the educational environment and its unique technical requirements.
  • Understanding of Division and department business, operations, programs, goals and objectives.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to work with multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong technical writing skills.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to create original concepts/theories and longterm strategies.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work independently.
