Position Overview


Reporting to the Production Manager, the Skilled Labourer role possesses a special skill set,learned through training, knowledge, and/or acquired through their abilities in a work environment.

This position frequently uses hand and power tools for emergency board
- up/secure of premise or installation of job site materials. This position's responsibilities include cutting, measuring and installation of job related materials, set up and tear down of scaffolding or poly containment enclosures. The role assists with other restoration activities when required, including material pick up, delivery, demolition, debris disposal, job site cleanliness, content repositioning, pack out, transport for storage and return when necessary.


Job Duties

  • Perform activities including light to medium repairs, demolition and general cleaning as needed
  • Cut, measure and install job related materials as per scope of work
  • Safely uses hand and power tools
  • Assist Journeyman and Apprentice trades as required
  • Ensure work is completed according to measurements, specifications, drawings, plans or other production materials/instructions
  • Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may, or are affecting completion of job to the appropriate person
  • May assist with Water / Flood and Contents duties as required
  • Participate as directed in the following activities:
  • Vehicle safety and maintenance inspections
- o Maintaining vehicles in clean serviceable condition
- o Constructing polyethylene enclosures
- o Emergency board up / secure of premise
- o Removing and disposing of debris
- o Maintaining equipment

  • Will practice good housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and noncluttered worksite
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
  • Ensure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people's property and information
  • Participates in and demonstrates an understanding of safety principles and practices; follows all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment
  • Comply with all
    Belfor policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements
  • Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may or are affecting completion of the job to the appropriate person
  • This role could be required to act as a "lead" periodically as designated by their manager
  • Attend all
    Belfor sponsored training courses

Qualifications

  • Construction / Restoration / Insurance experience preferred
  • Forklift Certification considered an asset
  • Comprehensive understanding of customer service, principles and practices
  • Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per
    Belfor's vehicle policy
  • Ability to work within a team or independently as needed
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
  • Basic computer and/or tablet/iPad experience
  • Willing to work evenings, on call and weekends when requested
  • Periodic travel may be required
  • Criminal Record Check

Physical Demands

  • Frequent lifting from 540 lbs, unassisted (from 3565% of the time)
  • Occasional lifting from 41 lbs +, assisted (up to 50% of the time)
  • Access and mobility in tight spaces
  • Fit Testing half and full face mask as needed, annual certification required
  • Working at Heights over 5 feet, periodically
  • Sustained periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling
