Wages:
- $72,792.56-$101,119.37Reporting to the Vice President & Chief Human Resources Officer, the Manager, Employee Health & Wellness, leads and evaluates the employee Ability Management program, health and safety, wellness, emergency disaster management and benefits program. The Manager, Employee Wellness through their programs continually evaluates industry best practices, standardizes processes and fosters a consistent approach and compliance to applicable legislation and policies throughout Good Samaritan. The Manager Employee Wellness will guide Good Samaritan and its leaders in understanding of employee wellness and communicate the importance of the employer's due diligence while continuously working to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


Educational and other Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field i.e. Disability Management Specialist (CDMP), Certified Return to Work Coordinator (CRTWC)
  • Eligibility to obtain the Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) preferred
  • Certified Health Executive (CHE) preferred

Work Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in employee disability management wellness, health and safety, and benefits in a multiunion and multidisciplinary team environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of current disability management best practices
  • Strong knowledge of Human Rights Legislation and the duty to accommodate, as well as Privacy Legislation and Workers' Compensation Legislation
  • Ability to identify wellness, employee health and safety, benefits and abilities management best practices and stay abreast of legislation and case law changes for continuous improvement of the employee wellness program

Accountabilities

  • Engages leadership to develop a strategic plan, identifying deliverables and benchmarking with industry standards
  • Recommends strategies to ensure Good Samaritan meets its Mission, Vision and Values relative to the employee wellness programs
  • Continuous awareness of changes to legislation and case law to ensure programs are compliant with legal requirements, which includes Human Rights, Workers' Compensation, and Privacy laws
  • Leadership role in the development or revision of organizational policies by providing feedback and suggestions as it pertains to employee wellness
  • Oversight of WCB program management and conducting cost relief review to obtain the maximum allowable cost reduction on WCB premiums
  • Actively develops leaders, managers and teams to build employee wellness capacity (i.e. building awareness of legislation requirements and the importance of employer's due diligence
  • Oversight to ensure Good Samaritan achieves and maintains active Certificate of Recognition (COR) status as part of partnerships in Injury reduction (PIR) sponsored by provincial OHS, WCB and CCSA
  • Responsible for oversight of benefits programs, including recommending, implementation, support and compliance for new and existing employee benefits programs, including but not limited to plan selection, annual renewal process, contract negotiation, benchmarking.
  • Recommends benefits programs to management by studying employee requirements and trends and developments in benefits offered by other organizations
  • Cooperates and collaborates with provincial authorities, regional safety associations, and regional health authorities to promote safe and healthy initiatives to benefit all Good Samaritan residents, employees, volunteers, visitors, and contractors
  • Coordinate and manage all Wellness programs and services
