    Waste Connections of Canada has an immediate opening for an Operations Specialist for our Abbotsford, BC District .

    The Operations Specialis t will require superior organizations skills. This role will serve as the resident expert for this small but busy office working closely with another Operations Specialist and the rest of the Operations team. Items that will fill your day include scheduling multiple commercial drivers for waste, recycle, and/or organics collection. Coordinating drivers according to customer requests and company rules, communicate with customers to determine driver needs, schedule and notify drivers of assignments. You will be the first line of communication to ensure daily pick-ups are completed, and resolve issues that impede progress.

    Pay: $50-55k/year

    Shift: Monday to Friday

    Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and tracks progress of drivers, using a 2-way radio, throughout the work day in order to ensure timely completion of assigned routes
  • Assigns commercial and roll off pickups to appropriate collection routes
  • Updates and maintains all assigned line of business routes in TRUX system
  • Prints and disperses route sheets to drivers as needed, timely closure of routes to enable accurate billing.
  • Serves as a single point of contact for all internal and external customers
  • Notify customers of any change in scheduled service.
  • Liaise with internal teams to determine service requirements, resolve problems or complaints
  • Cover weigh scale duties as needed
  • Serve visitors by greeting and assisting them or directing them to the appropriate party
  • Maintain appropriate files and documentation, in accordance with company policy and internal controls
  • Monitoring and correcting payroll including inputting incentive volume
  • Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of customer service/office admin experience in a transportation related environment.
  • Pleasant demeanor over the phone and professional email etiquette.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, TRUX
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Critical and logical thinking skills
