  • Information Technology Services (ITS) enables an environment where students, faculty and staff have the technologies, systems, services, and digital literacy to do their very best work, feel engaged, and supported. Our commitment to customer satisfaction is founded in service excellence and clear and effective communication. In developing and executing technology adoption programs the Tech Writer/Adoption Coordinator is instrumental in improving the effectiveness of enterprise solutions, enabling enhanced business capability and improving the quality and efficiency of ITS services.

Objectives for the role include:

  • Support the design and management of the IT Service Catalog to maximize efficiency and client awareness of available services
  • Manage Knowledge Base System develop, introduce, publish and evaluate selfhelp articles
  • Obtain a deep understanding of ITS products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content
  • Develop and execute institutional messaging related to new initiatives, campaigns and services
  • Manage organizational change by developing adoption roadmaps, training, communication and change management plans, deadlines and project goals
  • Develop and maintain databases of appropriate templates, standards, and reference materials
  • Manage the continuous improvement of ITS web presences, information sources and social media
  • Participate in exciting events like 'welcome week' for students, facilitate orientation and training sessions, and help promote IT services at all campus locations.

We are searching for an experienced technical writer to serve as an ambassador and evangelist for IT solutions and services.

A Tech Writer/Adoption Coordinator has proven experience in a technical field, ability to evaluate and analyze complex information, and has expertise in writing user-friendly content that meets the needs of varying audiences by turning insights into instruction that sets our clients up for success.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

  • 1. Two year diploma in Business, Communications, or Information Technology
or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (foreign education must have Canadian equivalency certification) and a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or able to attain within 2 years
2. 5 years of progressive experience within an enterprise information technology environment.
Demonstrated expert knowledge in two or more IT areas - including, but not limited to:

a. Project Management
b. Portfolio Governance
c. Business Analysis
d. Software Development Lifecycle
e. Application development frameworks and methodologies
f. Information Technology infrastructure implementation projects
g. Change Management

  • Strong written and oral communication skills Demonstrated experience in creating, planning and executing testing strategies and in leading the business SMEs through the process of User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Effective organizational and time management skills. The ability to work in extremely stressful, time critical conditions and make accountable decisions.
  • Ability to work independently on multiple initiatives and manage priorities and deadlines.
