Scientific Associate

Translational Addiction Research Laboratory

Position Description
The Translational Addictions Research Laboratory (TARL) is a clinical research program focused on improving treatment in drug addiction. Various approaches are used such as clinical trials, laboratory-based experiments, and multi-disciplinary basic and observational research. The primary focus is to develop novel therapeutic strategies in clinical populations with various substance use disorders. Drugs of abuse commonly studied include cannabis, alcohol, tobacco, and opiates.


We are seeking a full-time, contract (1 year) Scientific Associate with experience in conducting clinical research studies and grants submissions.

The incumbent will report to the Director of TARL and join a clinical research team working on a number of addiction research studies.

In this position, you will be responsible for working both autonomously and in a team of research staff to achieve study targets.

On-site presence and participation in the day-to-day research projects is required.

The Scientific Associate will also contribute to mentorship of staff and research trainees.

You will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements.

This position is located at 100 Stokes Street and 33 Ursula Franklin Street. You may be required to travel between sites at times.


Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an academic research setting is an asset.
  • Indepth knowledge of ICH GCP, TCPS2, Health Canada Division 5, and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Demonstrated proficiency in statistical software (i.e., matlab, SPSS, R) is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral/written) and organizational skills are required along with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • The applicant will demonstrate a commitment to conducting and fostering research and enthusiasm regarding participating in multidisciplinary research and training activities.
  • Superior interpersonal and organizational skills along with analytical and problem solving skills are required.

Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.

Please Note:
This full-time, contract (1 year) position is not part of any bargaining unit.
