PLANT SERVICES SUPERVISOR - 40 Hours/week
One Permanent Position - 40 hours/week (predominately 3pm to 11pm)

**Duties and Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Manager of Property Services the successful applicant will:

  • Be responsible for the supervision of all permanent and casual custodial staff, the courier
system, cafeteria staff and seasonal ground crews.

  • Provide support to school administration in monitoring the daytoday cleaning activities
performed by custodial staff to reach objectives & standards of cleanliness

  • Organize and monitor the replacement of custodial staff due to absence, illness, vacation, lieu
time and modified work.

  • Perform annual quality maintenance inspections at all work sites, and provide technical
information to school administrators for follow-up on identified performance improvements

  • Manage and monitor ground crew activities (i.e. snow removal, grass cutting) to ensure safe and
efficient operations at all sites, including closed sites

  • Ensure the security of all Board property and buildings throughout the system
  • Research data regarding custodial materials/equipment, services and supplies as required
**Skills and Abilities: - Effective human relations, conflict management and supervisory skills

  • Strong communication, decisionmaking and leadership skills
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and build strong relationships but also work autonomously
  • Ability to identify and solve problems in a structured way
  • Highly motivated with sound organizational skills
  • Manage competing demands and be able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected
events


Qualifications and Experience:


  • 2 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • 5 years of experience in the custodial care field with responsibility
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of progressive discipline and employee support
  • Sound understanding of budgeting requirements, and accounting principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of building and property systems
  • Driver's license, use of a vehicle and liability insurance as required by Board policy
  • Ontario Water Ticket would be an asset
