Alavida Lifestyles is looking for a
Director of Care for our retirement home in
Orleans, ON.

The Director of Care (DOC) reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for the overall day-to-day delivery of health care operations, ensuring that the health care services comply with the Retirement Homes Act (RHA) and other relevant legislation.

RESPONSIBILITIES_

  • Assigns, delegates and evaluates the activities of the nursing department
  • Plans, assigns and overseas the Residents' health and personal care services
  • Participates in interprofessional assessments in identifying Residents' needs and develops an individualized plan of care, ensuring that the Resident is receiving the level and quality of agreed upon care
  • Meets with Residents/Families to resolve problems and concerns
  • Organizes and participates in the Resident care conference on admission and at 6 monthly intervals or as the condition of the Resident changes
  • Maintains accurate and complete health records
  • Reviews premedical assessments to ensure that the community is able to provide the care
  • Serves as the Infection Prevention and Control Coordinator for the community
  • Responsible for the recruitment of staff
  • Completes performance appraisals of staff as required
  • Provides ongoing staff education
  • Recruit, hire, train and manage nursing staff and their schedules
  • Other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS_

  • Current registration and in good standing as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current CPR & First Aid Certificate
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
years of leadership roles in the senior housing industry

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Retirement Homes Act and other applicable legislation
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Effective listening skills
  • Familiar with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act
