Curriculum Division

Learning and Teaching Resources Sector

The Learning and Teaching Resources Sector contributes to the ongoing work of the Curriculum Division by ensuring the delivery, sustainability and scalability of authorized learning and teaching resources to support Alberta's provincial kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum.

This sector provides a centralized model for learning and teaching resource identification, procurement, development, authorization and maintenance.

To enable the sustainment and scalability of this work, the sector leads resource strategy, intellectual property and resource management services.


Resource Strategy and Management Branch

The Branch leads the work to provide the strategy for learning and teaching resources, which includes strategic planning, teaching and learning resource initiatives, and the development of processes and best practices to support all aspects of learning and teaching resources.

It provides intellectual property services and manages digital assets, files, and records to support the implementation of resources for K-12 curriculum.

As part of this work, the branch identifies resources to support piloting and implementation of new curriculum, authorizes resources and collaborates with DCMD to support the integration of these resources into curriculum platform(s).

This includes permissions of use, licenses, authorization documentation, digital asset management, and records management to support each resource from inception to sunset.


Role Responsibilities:


This position supports the branch by leading and supporting multiple program development and implementation projects simultaneously to meet divisional and branch priorities, under the direction of the Director.

The coordinator is accountable for preparing and presenting project and operational reporting.

The Coordinator works with various program areas and department or stakeholder groups to support collaborative and integrated information sharing and decision-making and to facilitate transitions to new or revised program operations.

Consultation and research is required to inform decisions based on recommendations related to learning and teaching resources that meets the ministry, school authorities, teacher, parent, and student needs driven by data and best practices.


This position is essential for daily coordination and project management related to the authorization, publication, and management of learning and teaching resources to support curriculum implementation.


  • Coordinate and organize the authorization and publication processes of learning and teaching resources.
  • Work closely with the Managers to facilitate the process for the publication of learning and teaching resources, from review to authorization.
  • Work closely with the Managers to coordinate the workflow and logistics for the publication of learning and teaching resources in a digital platform.
  • Plan and organize engagements for the review of learning and teaching resources.
  • Data collection, validation, analysis, reporting, and research to inform leadership and provide evidence of trends and issues for the (development / review and authorization / maintenance) of learning and teaching resources.
  • Design and conduct daytoday data collection for learning and teaching resources to inform analysis, further data collection and research.
  • Design data collection methodologies to adequately meet reporting requirements, including appropriate formats for reporting to inform senior management.
  • Design appropriate formats for data to inform management of emergent trends, issues and concerns.
  • Prepare reports and assist in making recommendations on the findings and implication for further analysis, including performance measurement.
  • Collaborate with Resource Analysts to design data collection parameters and needs to analyze the data to inform future learning and teaching resources.
