    What You'll Do

    As the Blaster Helper, you will assist the Blaster in Charge and Blast Crew during drilling, loading, and blasting operations. This opportunity would be ideal for someone who is interested in long-term professional growth in the field of Drilling & Blasting. Some duties will include:

  • Provide manual labor support on the blast site including loading blast holes and shoveling crushed stone or carrying buckets of crushed to blast holes
  • Assist the Blaster in Charge to safely serve the customer
  • Complete necessary paperwork including daily safety checks, bills of lading for transporting dangerous goods, logbook, pre & post trip inspections
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain safe working conditions in the shop, while operating mobile equipment, and while on blast sites to protect personal safety and the safety of others
  • Assist in blast design and layout of drill patterns.
  • Assist blaster with blast reports via data entry.
  • Learn to operate blast design software, GPS as well as technical equipment used to measure face burdens, borehole deviation and grade control as part of the design work.
  • Communicate all relevant information to the blast crew, including a review of the hazard assessment through the safety tailgate meeting.
  • Ensure that all equipment to be used daily is clean and in good operating condition including vehicles used for delivery of explosives products.
  • Transport explosives in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure that all regulations, both federally and provincially are adhered to.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all products (explosive and non explosive).
  • Ensure that company policies, safe work practices, hazard analysis, and standard operating procedures are followed.
  • What We're Looking For:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior manual labor experience preferred
  • Ability to read, write and speak English and to communicate in written and verbally
  • Ability to work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment where required.
  • Required to lift up to 25 Kg's.
