    Applications are invited for the position of Associate Dean, School of Trades in the School of Media, Trades and Technology Division, located at the Welland Campus. The salary range is $115,032 to $153,374 for a 35-hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.

    Reporting to the Dean of Media, Trades and Technology, the successful candidate works collaboratively with a high performance academic, administrative, and support divisional team to lead in the development, delivery and ongoing review of the full-time and part-time post-secondary and non post-secondary programs and services in the department. The Associate Dean will ensure that the programs are effectively and efficiently delivered, meet Ministry, CQAAP, CVS or PEQAB standards, and are relevant to the needs of college students. The School of Trades offers a range of apprenticeship, techniques and technician programs including Automotive Service Technician Apprenticeship, Carpentry and Renovation Techniques and Technician (Co-op), Electrician-Construction and Maintenance Apprenticeship, Electrical Techniques, General Carpenter Apprenticeship, General Machinist Apprenticeship, Hairstyling, Hairstyling-Barbering, Hairstyling Apprenticeship, Industrial Electrician Apprenticeship, Industrial Millwright Mechanic Apprenticeship, Mechanical Techniques (General Machinist), Metal Fabricator (Fitter) Apprenticeship, Motive Power Technician – Automotive (Co-op), Motive Power Techniques – Automotive, Welder Apprenticeship, Welding Techniques, and Welding Technician. The programs are all offered in classroom and specialized lab facilities.

    The Associate Dean is responsible for planning and implementing the academic delivery of School of Trades courses and programs, in line with college budget and enrolment forecasts, while providing leadership in the development and renewal of curriculum, effective hiring and development of faculty, and management of workload assignments. The incumbent will supervise faculty and staff as they manage the delivery of courses and programs in the portfolio. This role requires a high degree of collaboration with the Dean, Associate Deans, faculty, and college stakeholders to ensure that courses and programs are delivered effectively and efficiently with a focus on quality and student success. Resolving academic integrity cases, dealing with student issues, attending community and college recruitment events, and participating on college-wide committees are also responsibilities of the Associate Dean.

    Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

    • Master's degree in a relevant field of study
    • Minimum 9 years combined experience which includes academic leadership, management and industry experience as well a minimum of 5 years of successful teaching at a post-secondary/adult level
    • Experience with supervision of staff within a unionized environment
    • Academic planning, Enrollment management and budget experience
    • Experience working with diverse student populations
    • Demonstrated experience in developing student-centered programs and supports
    • Advanced leadership, team building, collaboration, and networking skills
    • Superior skills in communication, organization, problem solving/conflict resolution, and prioritizing within a multi-faceted role

    Preferred candidates may also possess:

    • Proven ability in moving ideas from conceptual to operational
    • Experience with program or curriculum design and development in a post-secondary/adult environment
    • A related Certificate of Qualification

    This position requires primarily on-campus work.
