THE OPPORTUNITY
Slegg Building Materials is currently seeking a Full-Time Forklift Operator to work evenings Monday to Friday 1-9:30 pm. The wage range is $18-$22 per hour, based on experience, plus a night shift premium.


THE LOCATION - Admirals
Located on Admirals Road on the land of the lək̓wəŋən People, known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations.


This is a central location that operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, with easy access to the highway and major bus routes.

We specialize in drywall, insulation, steel stud, lumber, and more.

You will learn a lot working with our upbeat team comprised of individuals with 15+ years of building material experience.

THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Including but not limited to the following:

  • Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers
  • Maintain an emphasis on a safety culture, customer service, and efficiency as a top priorities
  • Perform daily inspections of lift trucks and complete required forms
  • Ensure lift truck maintenance and servicing requirements are met
  • Build orders to required specifications for delivery
  • Clean yard as needed
  • Load and unload building materials in a safe and efficient manner
  • Check load contents for accuracy and secure materials
  • Ensure that all products are shipped on schedule and according to specific instructions by management to meet customer demands
  • Maintain contact with supervisor(s) and work to resolve issues as they arise
  • Other duties as assigned by management

THE REQUIREMENTS

  • Forklift experience is essential
  • Effective communication skills and ability to read and speak English
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics
  • Basic hand tool skills
  • Physical requirements include:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
  • Sitting and driving for longs periods of time
  • Frequently climbing up and down stairs
  • Pulling, pushing, bending and torso twisting movements with weight
  • A positive can do attitude is essential
