The Mechanical & Piping Group is a Hatch global practice providing Mechanical design expertise to a wide variety of Hatch's commodity-based business practices.

Our capability spans through the entire project lifecycle comprising; scoping, conceptual design, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, detailed engineering, construction support and project management.

The group supports all of Hatch's sectors including energy, mining & mineral processing, and infrastructure.


Our Mississauga team is currently seeking a dedicated Module Layout Design Specialist to provide CAD assistance to project work both in the office and in the field.

The Design Specialist will be broadly responsible for development of the module 3D models and 2D drawings and implementing modularization strategies on projects.


Experience

  • Perform innovative conceptual layout work in 3D to support modularization studies and projects with limited available information, such as PFDs and P&IDs.
  • Have a sound knowledge in the design of project specific piping and mechanical components or systems, as well as fundamental knowledge of various plant processes.
  • Good understanding of the various types of module transport equipment available, how they work, limitations etc.
  • Good understanding of various types of module ocean vessels available, their limitations, and advantages/disadvantages of each type.
  • Ability to develop and present presentations to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Experience in the design and layout of Mining, Oil & Gas, Mineral and Battery Metals processing plants, material handling and product storage facilities.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office software is essential.

You bring to the role:


  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy industrial modular design and layout.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience with Bentley: OpenPlant, or 3D MicroStation.
  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, regulations, and codes pertinent to the design and systems related to the project.
  • Strong deliverable focus with a proven ability to attain quality and schedule objectives while maintaining budgets.
  • Able to lead small teams, plan and supervise the work of others.
  • Understanding of other discipline interfaces and requirements.
  • Experience in mentoring young professionals.
  • Strong personal commitment to Safety and Quality.
  • Strong ability to engage and coordinate the design with client representatives.
  • Knowledge of project delivery, including the activities, interfaces and interdependence of all project disciplines.
  • Knowledge of Engineering systems coordination.
  • Experience with greenfield and brownfield interfaces, including constructability experience
