We are one of the fastest growing Communications Companies and we are looking for an Experienced and Qualified RF Cable Assistant Manager for network upgrades and maintenance to support multiple MNO and clients, with combined view of day-to-day work as well as yearly commitment to support the customer program variable demands.

Primary work locations are in GTAC, GTAW, York, Durham and SWO.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Working on all components of HFC Cable Access Network (Coax and fiber).
  • Installing equipment (actives, passives, cables, connectors, support structures, power supplies, etc.).
  • Managing and/or Installing/Cutting Over/Configuring/Setting Up/Cascading actives (nodes, trunks, line extenders) to proper specs (RF and power) and aligning/sweeping the network.
  • Installation and maintenance of power supplies (modules, batteries, monitoring tools, modems, etc.).
  • Working on various plant types; aerial, buried, MDU's and confined spaces.
  • Attend meetings and be in charge of end to end project management (from receiving the work until invoice being paid and of all type of Uplift/HMOD work, for multiple clients.
  • Repair/install pedestal equipment cabinets.
  • Manager or Repair or troubleshoot faulty cables, equipment, and power supplies.
  • Utilize appropriate tools that verify network is working properly.
  • Adhere to company and industry safety requirements.
  • Setting up and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Maintaining equipment and stock items in a clean, controlled, and safe manner.

Requirements:


  • Understanding of cable and fibre networks and be able to read and follow network drawings.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics and electrical power.
  • Intuition for component assembly and good craftsmanship skills (i.e. Configuring and mounting components, mechanically inclined).
  • Using cable signal level meter, VOM, TDR and OTDR, cable locator, signal leakage, fibre splicing knowledge preferable.
  • Able to core coax cable and install connectors.
  • Willingness to learn and enroll training to enhance industry knowledge and up to date with the troubleshooting tactics and how to analyze faults and settle field issues with no customer impact and downtime, where reasonably feasible.
  • Professional and considerate disposition that represents our company and our clientele with high regard.
  • Ability to solve and to think through problems and utilize good judgement skills. Ability to think outside the box and show initiative to resolve issues.
  • Functional computers skills; Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PDF etc.).
  • Ability to work with and on ladders, working at heights.
  • Valid Driver's Licence (Class G) and Clean Drivers Abstract.
  • Bucket truck and elevated platform experience would be an asset.
  • Able to lift and manage equipment up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to dig pits with hand tools (shovel, picks, rakes, etc.). Basic landscaping skills.

Fibre OSP Splicing skillsets, with the ability to test, trace and/or fusion splice would be a considered extremely valuable.

Education:


  • Minimum Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
  • Post secondary education or trades school training in electronics, computers, mechanics, or equivalent would be a great asset.
  • Past CATV courses and training would be an asset.

Working Conditions:


  • Able to work in all weather conditions and if required support multiple night cutover. schedule and 100% working out of the filed location.
  • Able to work safely in public settings and adhere to all safety compliance.
  • Able to work in proximity to moving vehicles and need to manage traffic flow from time to time (i.e. lane closures).
  • Be Physically capable to climb, crouch, kneel.

Schedule:


  • Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm.
  • 40 hours per week.
  • Potential standby and weekend work if required.
  • Maintenance Window Cutovers (Rotation).
