Position Purpose:


The Flatbed Delivery Centre (FDC) is new at The Home Depot and represents improvement in the fulfillment experience for large format PRO and DIY orders.

Our core strategies include (1) the enablement of new flatbed delivery center (2) anticipated transition of flatbed delivery volume away from stores to the centralized delivery model, (3) introduction of boom truck deliveries.


This newly created on-site role of the Flatbed Delivery Coordinator will play a critical role in the overall success of the centralized delivery model.

The coordinator will manage dedicated 3rd party drivers and leverage THE HOME DEPOT DELIVERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM to create daily routes that are well planned and executed.

Managing carrier capacity will be foundational to success and ensuring a successful on-time fast and frictionless delivery experience for our customers.

The position will hold our 3rd party carriers accountable to high performance standards executing routes and managing customer deliveries in the most efficient and cost-effective manner to support the best-in-class customer delivery experience.


Responsibilities:


  • Understands & leverages THE HOME DEPOT DELIVERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM capabilities to hold carrier accountable for delivery performance
  • Regularly communicates with key stakeholders including: Pro Account Expeditors (PAE's), carrier leadership team and their drivers when necessary, carrier senior representatives, entire FDC team, liaise with peers on Deliver from store team. At times will need to connect with customers directly to help solve escalations
  • Ensure right truck right route for each delivery
  • Monitor capacity to ensure enough trucks to meet daily demand
  • Provides insights into driver and route performance for dedicated carriers
  • Executes flawlessly on daytoday route planning and daily route management:
  • Audits daily load planning & last-minute add-ons to meet customer requirements
  • Monitors daily routes in collaboration with carrier dispatch to ensure deliveries done on time and to customer satisfaction
  • Manages delivery windows & communication
  • Is daytoday store & carrier single point of contact, resolves daily issues, holds all parties accountable for following prescribed processes
  • Ensures returns are managed according to prescribed processes
  • Identifies and implements improvements for better cost & service
  • Shift is Monday to Friday onsite at the Flatbed Delivery Center, or Tuesday to Saturday. Exact start time TBD
  • Adapts to change easily and works through ambiguity of new roles, processes and systems

Deliverables:

Efficient routes & on-time service level:

  • Management of a significant number of annual deliveries in southern Ontario
  • Daily routes planned and audited to ensure best in class customer delivery experience
  • Regular communication with carriers, stores, FDC team as required
  • Management of lastminute addons to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Timely resolution of route, store & carrier issues
  • Responding to customer escalations

Experience / Knowledge Required:

  • 2+ years' experience in retail store at service desk and/or with deliveries picking, staging or loading
  • Strong sense of urgency and passion for logistics
  • Results driven
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Demonstrated customer focus
  • Team player and strong relationship builder, primarily with carrier, drivers and internally with stores and FDC team
  • Process improvement focused, with proven ability to help implement change when needed
  • Experience with delivery management routing systems a plus
  • Continuous learner
  • Ability to multitask and manage time accordingly
  • Knowledge of store and/or carrier processes is an advantage
  • Ability to work different shifts may be required
  • Bilingual in English & French will be required for the role that covers Quebec; is an advantage for other roles
