    Assist in enhancing effective learning and self-management strategies that foster academic confidence and success.1. Develop ways to integrate skill development through appropriate laddering, scaffolding, and timing of the content learning activities.

    Learning Strategists are able to identify key strategies that enhance the learning outcomes associated with various content areas and are available to consult with faculty regarding student learning.2.

    Provide course- and program-specific learning support.3.

    Provide services online and face to face; assist in enhancing effective learning and self-management strategies that foster academic confidence and success.4.

    Actively participate in the academic referral process.5.

    Present workshops for students and faculty on a range of academic and learning skills including working with students from a variety of backgrounds including ESL/EAL and students with learning challenges.6.

    Collaboratively design, develop, and deliver curriculum for tutor training in accordance with established quality assurance practices.7. As part of a team, provide direction, guidance and mentoring for tutors.8. Provide leadership for and participate in the recruitment, training and coaching of tutors, faculty, and other collegial supports.9. Collaborate with partners within Sask Polytechnic to design, develop, and deliver transition to university and student success programs.10.

    Assist with the development and teaching of numeracy, writing, and other essential skills and provide individual learning assistance and/or assessments for students at all levels as needed.11.

    Keep current with academic program requirements and teaching and learning developments at Sask Polytechnic to ensure responsive and effective programming.12.

    Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise programs to meet the learning skills needs of students.13. Develop and maintain learning resources on a range of topics using a variety of media.14. Assist with the maintenance of web pages and library guides using the Springshare system.15. Maintain current knowledge of student development theory, learning strategies and participate in relevant professional associations and conferences.16.

    Collaborate with other faculty to design and teach in or out of class workshops and learning strategy sessions tailored to the needs of faculty and students in a specific discipline.17.

    Work collaboratively with the Program Head on the development and implementation of the strategic plans, LS goals and program policies that ensure the delivery of high-quality and accessible programs for students and the smooth and efficient function of Learning Services.18.

    Provide professional development in the area of learning strategies within Sask Polytechnic, including staff, student staff, volunteers and faculty.19. Represent Learning Services, as delegated by the Program Head, on relevant committees and working groups.20. Participate in assessment and research activities.21.

    Help to promote and raise awareness of services in accordance with Learning Services and Sask Polytechnic Strategic and Academic plans.22.

    Travel to other campus locations in Saskatoon to provide writing and study skills support as assigned.

    • Other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE Specific Accountabilities Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA) Qualifications1. Bachelor of Education (major in Math) and/or Social Sciences Major or an equivalent combination of education and training in a field related to Math, and Science education. Micro-credential in Project Management.2. Two years' recent and relevant experience in remedial teaching.3. Demonstrated ability to support students in an online environment including making adaptations/modifications to online content to enhance student outcomes.4. Training and/or experience at the introductory level in the use of common software packages, i.e., MS Office Suite.5. Ability to effectively provide adult education.6. Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of students.7. Effective interpersonal and communication skills.8. Demonstrated knowledge of Aboriginal social, economic, and cultural challenges in Saskatchewan and the relationship of these challenges to the support of Aboriginal students.9.
