Your Opportunity:


Under the general direction of the Director, the Manager, Finance & Administration is responsible for the management of complex financial and administration functions required to meet the goals and objectives of the Facilities Management Department.

In this role, the Manager, Finance & Administration assists and advises the Director on financial strategies for the department, develops, manages and monitors various operating budgets (restricted and non-restricted), and provides project management support to the department's capital, administrative and operational initiatives.

Advises Facilities Management Department (FMD) management and staff on University financial policies and practices and ensures adherence to the provisions of seven (7) Collective Agreements.

In this role, as a member of the management team, will be an active participant in the department's strategic planning process.


The Manager, Finance & Administration will lead the departments' administrative and financial staff providing oversight to the department's financial, workflow management, office administrative operations and central service functions.

This role also includes the responsibility of planning and managing the department's administrative staff that includes:
defining roles and responsibilities, hiring, supervision, and performance management.

The Manager, Financial & Administration will oversee all financial processes for the department managing the departments operating budget (both restricted and non-restricted) and cost recovery budgets, financial processes and financial forecasting.


This includes the management of the front line contact points to the campus community as well as the departmental administration aligning the departmental administrative practices with that of operational partners like IITS, Human Resource Services and Financial Services.

In addition, the Manager, Financial & Administration will be a key point of contact for all ancillary services overseeing a team of staff to ensure that cost recoveries have been accurately completed following the Universities' financial processes.

The Manager, Finance & Administration will work collaboratively with the FMD management group.

The Manager, Finance & Administration will also lead operational projects such as:
workflow mapping; financial performance reviews; communications and campus interface initiatives for the department, i.e.

departmental website; work order management software upgrades; amongst others to ensure appropriate levels of service are provided and resources are used efficiently.

Oversees the purchasing and administration of the departments' computer equipment resources and assets for the Department.


Qualifications Required:

EDUCATION:


University degree and a professional accounting certification or in the final stages of certification and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS:
Must be proficient in the MS Office software (Excel and Word) and advanced knowledge of finance and accounting. Sound working knowledge of FIS and HRIS (SAP) or equivalent systems is essential.

Must have excellent:
organizational and time management skills, oral and written communication skills, analytical, problem-solving, and financial and administrative skills. Must also have excellent oral and written communication skills.

OTHER:
Must be able to manage competing deadlines and a variety of complex projects simultaneously. Must be willing to respond to/and manage shifting priorities. Must be service oriented and responsive to the needs of the department and their clients.

Must have the ability to adapt to new technology and to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment and keep up-to-date on the rapid changes in the University environment.
