This team knows the airfield inside out and work in an environment of constant change where every day brings something new.


WHAT YOU WILL DO
Directly lead a group of 8 Lead Hands, and indirectly lead 50 + Airfield Equipment Operators.

You will coach and mentor, the work group on safety requirements and procedures and ensure direct reports deploy and complete the day/night workplan.

You will also be responsible to review quality issues with direct reports and enact action plans to address deficiencies. Assisting General Manager, Field Maintenance and Mobile Services with budget forecasting and fiscal responsibility. Work cooperatively with external and internal stakeholders on operational needs and concerns.

  • Responsible for the overall management of the overall campus. This includes the maintenance and repair of all runways, taxiways, aprons, fences, roads, walkways and parking lots, landscaped areas, and parkades
  • Manage implementation of the campus wide Snow and Ice Removal Program to ensure a safe and efficient operation. Work with operational planning and compliance teams to continually improve the Winter Operations Plan. Implement various programs to ensure a safe and efficient winter operation including winter operations plan and snow removal and ice control throughout the campus
  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to a (8) Unionized Lead Hand employees. Establish annual performance goals, monitor and review with Lead Hands. Recruit staff. Ensure Lead hands are managing staff in accordance with the collective agreement and airport policies and procedures. Develop annual summer and winter shift schedules. Performance management activities
  • Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of legislation, standards, and policy (ex. Transport Canada Aerodrome Standards TP312) related to Airfield operation. Work with Airfield Lead Hands, Groundside Supervisor, Airfield Technical Inspector, M, Airfield Operations, and Airfield Operations Specialists to ensure the Authority is in compliance. Noncompliance can result in loss of the Airport Operating license
  • Assist in development and implement airport operational policies, rules, and regulations for safety and certification manuals. Assist in required updates to operational plans and programs
  • Manage large contracts, covering specification development, tendering, award and monitoring compliance, and supervision
  • Assist in development and maintain a campus wide O&M budget, monitor monthly expenditure, manage within delegated amount.
  • Determine longerterm resource and facility/equipment needs based on campus wide growth and customer requirements; work with operational planning and capacity management teams to develop and establish plans to satisfy these needs.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Postsecondary education with a degree in business administration or Aviation Management
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Airport Operations/Airfield/Municipal Management
  • A minimum of 57 years' progress experience in people management positions and unionized workgroups
  • Extensive knowledge of Transport Canada regulations and standards related to airfield operations
  • Knowledge of Tran
