    Your Opportunity:

    Red Deer Regional Health Centre has an exciting opportunity for the Unit Clerk in their very busy Adult Psychiatry Units 34/36. As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for performing clerical, receptionist and booking duties for the unit. Your duties will include performing admission, discharge and transfer functions; answering telephone calls, using the patient call bell system, and monitoring of unit and patient access. As the key point of first contact for the inpatient and outpatient areas, you will play a key role in fostering an effective team environment on the unit. You will be instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients and families, and in maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be an essential team member when unit emergencies arise and will be responsible for paging of physicians and code teams. You will be major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the unit. The Unit Clerk is also responsible for managing the flow of information and providing clerical support to staff and physicians on these units and is required to work collaboratively with physicians, staff and management, other departments within RDRHC, community of Red Deer and rural sites within Central Zone. Red Deer is located in Central Alberta near the midpoint of the Calgary–Edmonton Corridor and is surrounded by Red Deer County.     Description:

    As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Experience working in Mental Health and Addictions.
