Program Overview - Workforce Development, Community Programs


This position works within the Community Programs Unit to contribute to the learning opportunities provided to a variety of clients to improve their digital literacy, soft skills, occupational-specific hard skills, employability skills and financial literacy to improve their employment and financial outcomes.

This position reports to the Manager, Program Design, Learning & Evaluation, Workforce Development to provide the design, development, coordination, implementation, and support of training activities within the Community Programs Unit at WoodGreen


What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and deliver training programs and inclass training opportunities based on the objectives outlined by the unit.
  • Coordinate with Manager to assess training needs and objectives of different client groups within unit.
  • Ensure logístical details for setting up rooms, duplicating materials, coordinating with instructors and other logístical details are carried out for each workshop, as needed.
  • Coordinate with external training providers engaged by WoodGreen to deliver training related services.
  • Facilitate training courses as part of a regular schedule and as a backup facilitator as needed.
  • Support the index of training resources and management of training assets.
  • Create and administer training feedback mechanisms. Analyze results, make recommendations for training improvement, and integrate changes in curriculum and/or courses.
  • Coordinate other staff and volunteers in their outreach and promotion activities of Workforce Development training initiatives.
  • Occasionally order and manage food functions.
  • Identify, recommend, develop, and implement training programs to increase computer literacy and selfsufficiency.
  • Oversee development and dissemination of help sheets, usage guides, and FAQ lists for end users.
  • Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any information related to the organization, units, programs, staff, and clients, which the duties of the position provide access to.
  • Engage/attend training seminars, conferences, and trade shows to upgrade skills as directed by WoodGreen Community Services to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
  • Ensure antiracism objectives and community development principles of the organization are achieved.
  • Participate in regular supervisory sessions, staff, and unit meetings.
  • Carry out additional duties as identified from time to time by the Supervisor of Training and Evaluation, Workforce Development.
  • Travel to different WoodGreen locations occasionally as needed and to work for extended periods of time at one location, if needed (e.g., for 2 weeks at one location while training classes are in progress).

What You Bring to the Team

  • University degree in the field of Education, Human Resources, Social Services, or related field of study.
  • One (1) year work experience in the field of Adult Education, Workforce Development, or a related field of work.
  • Proven experience with adult learning principles, methodologies, and course design techniques.
  • Proven experience using best practices to teach inperson and online classes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including instructional and presentation skills with experience performing trainthetrainer type sessions and direct workshop program delivery.
