Description
The Manager, Human Resources (HR) is an integral member of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Senior Director, HR/People Development.
As an energetic and trusted thought partner, the Manager, HR will lead a team of HR professionals in the aggressive pursuit to drive high quality results through the provision of day-to-day HR services and strategic leader guidance while supporting overall business objectives through the execution of HR program initiatives.
The Manager, HR will use exceptional relationship building skills combined with professional HR expertise to lead and influence decisions that drive and enhance Bison's award-winning culture.
HR Team Leadership
- Oversee daytoday activities of the Winnipeg HR Operations team to ensure a positive experience is provided to our leaders and employees.
- Be responsible for the full life cycle of your team attracting, retaining, developing, mentoring and evaluating performance.
Strategic Business Partnership
- Partner with business units to identify, create and implement innovative human resource solutions that enhance business performance.
- Lead, execute and monitor the effectiveness of corporate People & Culture programs and initiatives that bolster Bison's Employee Value Proposition (EVP).
Employee Relations
- Make contributions that develop and sustain a workplace that mirrors our EVP.
- Provide daytoday performance management guidance to leaders (i.e., coaching, career development, disciplinary actions).
Employee Engagement & DEI
- Lead the employee engagement, culture and experience focus at Bison, creating great experiences for employees. Consult with leadership to develop plans to promote an inclusive environment that is engaging, enabling, and energizing, and one where our employees can thrive.
- Lead the biannual employee engagement survey process and associated activities.
- Champion and assess current DEI initiatives, identify areas of opportunities, make recommendations in alignment with the global corporate strategy.
Talent Acquisition
- Collaborate with the recruiting team across the Bison network, acquire top talent through improved selection tools and criteria, and local outreach efforts.
Rewards & Recognition
- Lead the administration of the Years of Service awards program, the employee retirement process, etc.
- Oversee Bison's Employee Recognition Program.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation.
- Ensure employee records are accurate and maintained, as enabled by Workday and mandated by applicable legislation.
- 57+ years of progressively responsible experience in the HR field, with a minimum of 3 years leading a team of HR professionals. Preference given to experience in transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or a similar industry.
- Bachelor's Degree in human resources or related university degree.
- Experienced using sophisticated HRMS software, preferably Workday, to facilitate complex decision making.
- Ability to establish credibility with ease and build strong working relationships with staff at all levels within the organization.
- Proven experience in partnering with leaders within an organization, influencing decision making at the leadership level.
- Experienced providing employment related advice and strategic counsel to leaders on a variety of employee relations and legislative issues with a view to meeting business needs while minimizing legal risks to the organization and supporting overall employee engagement.
- Strong understanding of applicable employment, human rights and duty to accommodate legislation.
- Proven conceptual, analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Must be a confident communicator, including written, and verbal skills, handles complex and difficult situations with thought and confidence. Able to effectively champion ideas, influence, and present to Leadership.
- Ability to recognize the value and responsibility of working in a team; actively supports and develops team members.
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
- Demonstrates passion approaches all tasks in an enthusiastic way.
- Creative, independent selfstarter who excels in a fastpaced environment.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with competing priorities, diverse audiences and challenging environments.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Must possess a high level of honesty, integrity, and ethics.
