Sparwood is an East Kootenay community of about 4,100 people living in the beautiful Elk Valley, approximately 1.5 hours away from Cranbrook, BC and 2.5 hours away from Calgary, AB - offering easy access to big city amenities while enjoying all that rural living has to offer.


The core job duties include:

  • Assumes the role of Acting Director of Community Services in their absence
  • Oversees the District's facility maintenance and asset management programs by working collaboratively with various key staff and departments
  • Establishes and maintains a centralized corporate maintenance and asset database, developing an understanding of the current state of municipal above ground assets and buildings
  • Establishes and implements best practice preventative maintenance schedules to ensure optimal performance of building systems and mechanics
  • Postsecondary degree in Engineering (Structural, Mechanical or Civil with a professional designation), or a Financial CPA designation will be considered
  • Project Management Certification (PMP Designation) will be considered an asset
  • A minimum of five years' experience in asset management planning, condition assessment and/or project management experience
A wide range of non-traditional education and/or equivalent work experience will be considered.
