Our firm provides fractional controller-ship services for our clients and our own business.

We are seeking an experienced Controller that has worked in multiple industries during their career and enjoys working with others who aspire to learn and succeed.


You are experienced in effectively aligning accounting systems, procedures and practices within medium to large companies, and those with multiple company divisions reporting to and supported by the Chief Financial Officer and Managing Partner.

Operations are located on the West Shore of southern Vancouver Island.


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Professional CPA designation, preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of leading the fullcycle accounting operations for multiple companies, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing direct reports.
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards, including ASPE.
  • High level working knowledge of computerized accounting systems and MS Office. Experience with SAGE and QuickBooks (desktop and QBO).
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fastpaced environment, meeting multiple deadlines with minimum supervision.
  • High emotional intelligence and leads by example, motivates your team and makes decisions diplomatically.
  • Positive professional attitude with the ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to perform complex calculations and analysis.

Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Oversee the full accounting cycle for general operations for multiple companies including source deductions, GST, PST, WCB, Electronic Funds Transfer, Preauthorized Debit systems, CAM reconciliations.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation.
  • Preparation of yearend working papers for multiple companies and leading external review engagement.
  • Perform analytical support for operational cost and margin improvement as well as production of financial reports and analyzing statements to identify discrepancies and recommend solutions.
  • Assist operations in making financial decisions that maximize performance.
  • Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, upholding federal and provincial standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
  • Preparation of monthly financial reporting to senior management.
  • Prepare ad hoc management reports as needed and ensure integrity of operations data feedingrelated business systems.
  • Process and enter accounting transactions as needed.
  • Manage and reconcile intercompany accounts for multiple companies.
  • Monthly Operating Report analysis and preparation.
  • Review and approve payroll for approximately 60 employees including ROE issuance and health benefits. Experience with Ceridian would be an asset.
  • A solid understanding of BC labour standards legislation.
  • Act as a true partner to our employees, support staff, management team and those of our clients.
  • Coach/develop/mentor junior team members.
  • Review legal documents, including potential contracts.
  • Other duties as required.
