Job Title:
Human Resources Generalist


Reports to:
Human Resources Business Partner

Salary Range: 60k-70k Annually

Basic Purpose:

Drive an exemplary employee experience through aligning effective workplace relationships with HR practices.


Key Accountability/Responsibilities:


Employee Relations

  • Act as a point contact on daytoday HR related inquiries within assigned client group
  • Respond to inquiries regarding HR policies, procedures, programs and applicable employment legislation
  • Respond to employee relations issues and concerns or escalate as needed in a timely manner

Recruitment and Selection

  • Request, obtain and track all staffing approvals
  • Manage job requisitions
  • Screen, evaluate and recommend applicants for interviews
  • Schedule and facilitate interviews
  • Conduct reference and background checks

Employee Experience

  • Facilitate new hire onboarding: welcome communication, first day arrangements, new hire orientation etc.
  • Conduct 45Day checkins, communicate feedback with the hiring managers and escalate issues as needed
  • Ensure probationary reviews and exit interviews are completed and feedback is shared with applicable parties
  • Drive employee recognition and rewards programs
  • Schedule, facilitate and track training courses as required

Compensation and Benefits

  • Provide guidance to employees on benefits program components
  • Administer STD, LTD and WCB claims in collaboration with an HRBP and third parties, as required
  • Collect compensation and classification inquiries and escalate as appropriate
  • Liaise with payroll for all employee inquiries, including timesheets

Administration

  • Work closely with HR Coordinator to ensure accurate completion of administrative paperwork required to facilitate recruitment, staff changes, benefits enrolments, compensation, performance management, etc.
  • Complete and maintain applicable HR trackers
  • Generate monthly and ad hoc reports using HRIS

Other Duties

  • Ensure protection of private information
  • Adhere to Company's safety policies and procedures
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Skills and Knowledge:


  • Human Resources Certificate or equivalent postsecondary education
  • CPHR designation achieved or in progress an asset
  • 2 to 3 years of experience in direct provision of Human Resources services
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal legislation
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential material in a professional manner, using tact and discretion when dealing with people
  • Excellent initiative, combined with planning, analytical and decision making skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook), and HRIS databases (data entry and report production)
