Minimum qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or quantitative/businessoriented field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience within one or more of the following fields: News Publishing, Strategy Consulting, Business Development, Media or Digital strategy, or Corporate Strategy Leadership.
  • Partner Management experience, working crossfunctionally and leading operational initiatives.

Preferred qualifications:


  • Experience in the technology or news media sector.
  • Experience influencing executive stakeholders in an organization.
  • Experience with business, partnerships, or business development.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, solve problems, and scale effectively across a distributed organization while demonstrating excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience related to navigating issues related to government and public policy.
  • Ability to communicate in English and French fluently.

About the job:


This team focuses on helping increase speed, flexibility, and responsiveness to our Partners and to the local News ecosystems (including Regulators) around the world.

The team leads all partner-facing News efforts and programs across Google and works with product leadership to steer the News product roadmap.


In this role, you will execute the strategy set for Canada - based on new or existing programs and products - together with cross-functional teams.

You will maintain a pulse on the news ecosystem and Google's role within it, be the representative of your partners with internal regional and global stakeholders, and play a role in shaping Google's partnership with the news industry.

You will be expected to collaborate on the roll out of projects or initiatives with other Partnerships teams (e.g., YouTube, Play, etc.) and Public Policy, Communication, Marketing, and Product teams.

The Global Partnerships organization is responsible for exploring new opportunities with Google's partners.

Google's Global Partnerships team works with a wide range of partners to bring the best of Google to power their business.

The Global Partnerships team supports Google's own Product teams with essential partnerships to help Google's user experiences in advertising, Search, Assistant, Maps, Travel, Shopping, Payments and more.

Teams create product-enabling partnerships, go-to-market strategies and incubate business growth for a variety of products.


Responsibilities:


  • Plan and execute the News Partnerships strategy with the objective of addressing Google's opportunities and challenges with the news industry in Canada from a business, reputational, and compliance perspective.
  • Identify and prioritize partners. Become an expert on each partner's organization, business model, and strategic priorities. Serve as a liaison with these partners regarding new product and feature launches and distribution opportunities.
  • Maintain effective relationships with publishers and identify new opportunities to grow their audience and business through Google platforms and solutions.
  • Lead and manage programs/partnerships endtoend including negotiations, communication, program development, contracting, analytical reporting and tracking, and organizational and operational support.
  • Collaborate across different Google teams to drive a partner
- and industry-centric approach that elevates relationships for strategic news partners in Canada. Represent Google externally at relevant industry events.
