Salary:
This position starts at $50,000 per year and increases to $68,000 per year, over a 10- year period.

This salary range incorporates experience, yearly salary increments to reward years of service, employee growth and development within the organization.


The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a
People & Culture Assistant to join our People & Culture Team.

If you have a passion for providing an exemplary HR experience and want to work in a fast paced environment this opportunity is for you The People & Culture Assistant will work within the Human Resources Department providing both recruitment and administrative support.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Assists with the recruitment process by creating job postings, scheduling phone, video and inperson interviews with hiring managers;
  • Processes reference checks and criminal record checks;
  • Performs a range of administrative duties often involving material of a confidential nature;
  • Assists with preparing and developing HR correspondence including employment verification letters and other employee correspondence;
  • Acts as a front line resource for all employee inquiries and actively manages the HR mailbox and assigns/forwards correspondence to the appropriate team member;
  • Responsible for the maintenance of employment records in the HRIS, ensuring complete accuracy, confidentiality and compliance with bylaws and other regulatory bodies;
  • Manages the casual call out process including updating of seniority lists, employee communication and documentation;
  • Acts as minute taker at Labour Management Committee meetings;
  • Responsible for all HR filing as needed;
  • Participates in the OH&S Committee as the HR representative;
  • Assists the Human Resources team with special projects as assigned.
  • Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or related from a recognized program;
  • Minimum 2 years' related progressive experience, working within Human Resources or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience;
  • Experience working with Human Resources Information Management Systems and Applicant Tracking Systems;
  • Demonstrated effective time management and organization skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to act with discretion and maintain confidentiality;
  • Familiarity of current employment law, labour relations regulations, statues, collective bargaining and collective agreements;
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Demonstrated crosscultural experience and/or knowledge of immigrant settlement and integration issues.
  • CPHR or working towards designation;
  • Experience within a unionized environment;
  • A second language.
A criminal record check is required as a part of this process.
