Maintenance and Controls Supervisor - Concord, Canada - Concord Confections
Description
The Maintenance and Controls Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day management of hourly staff, equipment maintenance, downtime resolution and maintenance team activities along with electrical design, PLC / HMI programming, reading and creating control schematics in AutoCAD Electrical, and maintaining and troubleshooting electrical / electronic systems.
Duties & Responsibilities - Essential Functions
A) Supervision Function - Courtland Site
- Manage, motivate, develop and provide direct leadership to maintenance staff by reinforcing and encouraging a highperformance culture and safe working environment.
- Communicate and coordinate maintenance activities within the team and with all relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure there is efficient utilization of resources by managing maintenance staff capacity and floor coverage.
- Accountable for timely execution of all scheduled work and provides guidance to team members on prioritization of work including emergency / breakdown work.
- Supervise and periodically audit maintenance work completed by team members and / or Contractors ensuring work is completed following all company policies and procedures including GMP, Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements.
- Responsible to report Food Safety and Quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Support planning, scheduling and execution of capital projects and shutdowns / turnarounds / asset restoration plans.
- Ensure compliance with all all applicable provincial and federal labour regulations and adhere to the terms and conditions specified in the collective bargaining agreement.
- Be trained at both plants to support Maintenance staff coverage and other needs.
- Be trained at both plants to support Production Supervision coverage as and when needed.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Concord Confections Food Safety and Quality Policy and Programs and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, HACCP, GMPs, SQF, Health & Safety and Customer requirements.
- Lead and / or support projects, initiatives and tasks, within and / or outside Maintenance department as required.
B) Controls Function - both Concord locations
- Design, build and maintain electrical / electronic systems and equipment: manufacturing / process equipment, automated conveyor and packaging equipment, robotic cells, industrial communications networks, building HVAC and lighting.
- Design, draft, redline, maintain and organize wiring schematics and system drawings.
- Setup and / or adjust parameters in machines, VFDs and servos using builtin faceplate / HMI interface.
- Troubleshoot and adjust PLC and HMI programs.
- Electronically tune and troubleshoot equipment for proper operation.
- Inspection of all operating parts to ensure proper operation within expected tolerances.
- Assist in the assembly, programming and installation of equipment as necessary.
- Provide training to internal personnel as necessary.
- Clearly and professionally interact with internal personnel and external Contractors.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable provincial and federal regulations and requirements.
- Lead and / or support projects and tasks as required.
Professional Experience
- Experience in a manufacturing environment in a similar role.
- AutoCAD Electrical experience with projects and customization a plus
- Experience with Schneider, Allan Bradley, AutomationDirect HMIs
- Experience with Fanuc, ABB, Adept robots
- Emerson, Allan Bradley, Lenze, Rexroth VFDs
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Have a strong interest in industrial automation.
- Have a strong mechanical and electrical background.
- 27 years working experience in controls / electrical field.
- Knowledge of equipment repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Supervision and team management skills.
- Basic knowledge of good manufacturing practices.
- Attention to detail a must.
- Demonstrate creative thinking.
Additional Education, Certification or Professional Designations:
- Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or related Degree / Diploma or equivalent.
