    As an Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Professional, you will be an integral part of a collaborative, inter-disciplinary team focused on delivering seamless services and programs to our clients and customers.     What you'll be doing:
    • Lead outbreak management activities including debriefing exercises
    • Provide timely consultation around IPAC practices for symptomatic patients and occupational health concerns
    • Liaise with external stakeholders and networks (e.g. Public Health, Neighboring/District Infection Control, IPAC Canada, and Ontario Health Teams) on matters related to infection prevention and control
    • Integrate relevant local, national and global public health issues into practice, in a timely fashion, as appropriate to a mental health setting
    • Review, analyze and implement regulations, accreditation standards and/or guidelines of applicable governmental agencies and professional organizations
    • Provide leadership with pandemic planning and implementation activities
    • Collaborate with occupational health in the development of strategies that address transmission risk to staff including support and assistance with the staff immunization program
    • Maintain current knowledge of trends and research published in IPAC
    • Develop, implement and update policies and procedures based on current best practices and committee recommendations
    • Critically evaluate significance of surveillance findings, make recommendations for improvement and share results from surveillance activities and outbreak investigations with other Mental Health partners, advocating for further best practice guidelines specific to Mental Health
    • Serve as an educator and educational resource for staff, patients and families
    • Provide informative IPAC education sessions to both staff and patients
    • Identify opportunities for improvement based on indicators, audits, process and outcome measures, other findings/observations
    • Participate in quality improvement teams and report on quality improvement initiatives and outcomes
    What we're looking for:
    • Nursing degree and current registration as an RN is required
    • Minimum 3 years' experience working in a clinical area
    • Experience in IPAC department in a healthcare setting is preferred
    • Infection Control certification or commitment to obtaining a certification within three years
    • Demonstrated clinical knowledge in the areas of infection prevention and control
    • Relevant experience providing clinical education utilizing adult education principles and evidence based practice
    • Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated excellence in decision-making and critical thinking
    • Group facilitation skills
    • Competence with MS Office including Excel and PowerPoint
    • Commitment to working within Homewood's Health and Safety Standards.
    • Awareness and acknowledgement of the value of using measurement-based care when supporting patients/clients to help guide clinical decision making; experience an asset
