Position Summary:


The National Fleet Manager will provide equipment management support, direction and recommendations to the Distribution Centres, centralized Martin-Brower departments, McDonald's Supply Chain, and Reyes Holdings.

The National Fleet Manager leads the development and analysis of fleet related investments that optimize financial, operational and customer objectives to maximize the return on investment.


Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:

  • In partnership with Transportation Operations, plan, direct and monitor preventive maintenance and repair programs for all Company vehicles
  • Contributing and educating others in support of our costconscious culture. This includes performing justification and life cycle cost analyses; performs trend analyses for various vehicle performance and maintenance issues and related expenses
  • Investigate industry options and trends, coordinate with fleet specialists in Reyes business units, Reyes Corporate, Martin-Brower DCs and the vendor/service provider community to determine, and recommend the most Martin-Brower appropriate capital and repair and maintenance solutions for fleet and related equipment
  • Lead and support national and regional initiatives, both Martin-Brower initiated and customer requested
  • Develop and execute the Fleet Annual Operating Plan and Capital Investment Plan
  • Drive consensus amongst multiple departments with competing priorities and be capable of influencing senior leaders to accept recommendations brought forth by the working group
  • Support and contribute to the development and success of warranty and policy programs for recovery of expenses
  • Monitor the industry activity for changes in legislation that will either affect Martin-Brower, or create new opportunities for the organization or individual DCs
  • Work with the National Manager, Health, Safety & the Canadian Lead for Sustainability to ensure DC and Corporate compliance with all appropriate operational and reporting regulations and legislation
  • Monitor DC transportationrelated KPIs for improvement opportunities and provide recommendations and support for capitalizing on those opportunities
  • Coordinate the trailer graphics program
  • Review financial and budget variances, review repair and approve account payable documents
  • Assist with developing and managing a comprehensive asset utilization plan
  • Together with the Canadian Lead for Sustainability, coordinate transportationrelated sustainability initiatives and implementation of Alternative Fuel Vehicles
  • Support the Transportation Team to deliver the cost, quality, service, and reliability results

Required Skills and Experience:


  • 3+ years of Fleet Management Experience in assetbased transportation is preferred
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, strong and effective communication and time management skills
  • Ability to influence and must possess critical thinking skills and the ability to anticipate
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships both in and outside of the organization
  • Strong sense of urgency. Should be driven and selfmotivated
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing priorities; meets deadlines and works well under pressure
  • Working knowledge of parts and supply procurement and equipment spec'ing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Enjoys working in a fast paced environment
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
