Pitchfork Market + Kitchen is a Retail Grocery Store with more A full Restaurant offering is available for in store consumption, pick up and delivery.
To be a successful in this role, you should understand and be willing to comply with food and sanitation guidelines and regulations, be quick and diligent, and willing to improve on the job.
Pitchfork Cook Responsibilities:
- Prepare awesome meals for our customers.
- Weigh, measure, mix and prep ingredients according to recipes.
- Steam, grill, boil, bake or fry meats, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients.
- Check food and ingredients for freshness.
- Arrange and garnish dishes.
- Work well under pressure and within the time limit.
- Ensure that kitchen area, equipment and utensils are cleaned.
- Testing ingredients and finished goods to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality controls.
- Retrieving, stocking, and maintaining proper merchandise from dry storage, freezer/cooler to preparation area, racks, shelves, and display cases.
- Processing waste; stocking, zoning, labeling, pricing, and organizing merchandise.
- Greeting customers, answering questions, making recommendations, accepting orders and payments, and providing exceptional customer service.
- Operating a sales register.
- Keeping records relating to deliveries, inventory, and production levels including stockroom organizational and cleaning, as necessary.
- Cleaning and restocking workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
- Adhering to standards and policies for cold chain compliance, thermometer calibrations, temperature recording, food handling, product rotation, sellby dates, and expiration dates, including identifying and removing Kitchen merchandise that is distressed or unacceptable in appearance.
- Accurately and efficiently preparing Kitchen merchandise to cook, package, finish, and stock the department.
- Maintaining the overall appearance of the Kitchen area, by keeping merchandise and display full
Pitchfork Cook Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Culinary school 24 year degree or equivalency preferred.
- Prior experience in related food and beverage service and food preparation positions.
- Thorough experience with hot and cold food preparation.
- Good working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards and health codes.
- Ability to use slicers, mixers, grinders, food processors, etc.
- Able to handle work in a fastpaced environment.
Pitchfork Prep Cook/Cleaner Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Culinary school training would be advantageous.
- Experience as a prep cook may be advantageous.
- Manual dexterity to operate cooking tools such as knives.
- Strong team working and communication skills.
- Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Ability to work in a stressful, fastpaced environment.
- Foodsafe Level 1 would be an asset.
