DUTIES:

St.

Lawrence College Event and Banquet Services offers outstanding event services and summer accommodations in Kingston, whether for groups of business professionals, academics, a sports team, planning a trade show or conference.

We are looking for Bartender and Conference Services Associates to work on an as needed, casual basis.

Under the direction of Event & Banquet Services staff, the Bartender and Conference Services Associate will assist in setting up and tearing down venues for events, including setting tablecloths and silverware, assist dining staff in serving drinks, act as a bartender and put away items after the event has ended.


The Bartender and Conference Services Associate will be part of a casual pool of associates called in to assist at special events and conferences.

There will be opportunities to be called in to work on weekdays, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays if desired. The Associate may accept or decline a work opportunity when contacted.

  • Bartend and serve drinks
  • You will provide exceptional customer service, set up and maintain a clean bar area and ensure compliance with provincial liquor legislation and regulations.
  • Standard Set Up and Tearing Down Events Protocol
  • You will assist with set up and tear down of the bar as well as event set up prior to, during, and post event as per the standard protocol of direction of Events and Conference services staff. This includes taking items from the storage area and/or putting them away.


  • Handling payments

  • You will complete and close out bar sales in the Point of Sales system, handling cash payments. You will be responsible for inventory and cash reconciliation at the end of each shift signed off by the Event Supervisor.

Qualifications:


Education and Experience:

A minimum of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Must possess a Smart Serve Certification.

A minimum of 1 year of experience in the service industry, specifically bartending and handling cash payments.

Physical/Work Environment Essential Requirements:

The successful incumbent must have the ability to report to the work location. This position requires sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and lifting. Lifting requirements are 40 pounds or less. Weekdays, evenings, weekends, statutory holidays as required.


Salary & Terms:

Hours per week: As required, up to a maximum of 24

Start Rate:$16.55/hour, plus Tips and 6% in lieu of vacation
