Job Summary
To perform a variety of stage/technical duties in preparation for and presentation of events produced by the Chan Centre or clients leasing any of the spaces within the Centre.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Technical Director
Work Performed
- Assembles, setsup, and shifts staging and related production equipment according to the agreed upon requirements of the client
- Sets up lighting requirements as directed
- Acts as stage door person as required
- Ensures that work is performed in a safe and correct manner
- Assists in reconfiguring portable building elements as required
- Assembles, setsup, shifts and operates audio video equipment according to the agreed upon requirements of the client
- Participates in the loading and unloading of equipment and staging for the production of Chan Centre or client events
- Performs other related tasks as required
Errors in set-up could result in delay in timelines and increased costs to the Chan Centre.
Failure to follow safety procedures could result in injuries to the employee or other employees or performers which could have financial implications and potentially legal liability for the Centre and the University.
Errors could also impact on relations with users and patrons and negatively effect the reputation of the Chan Centre and the University resulting in lost revenue.
Supervision ReceivedWorks under general direction. New or unusual problems are referred to the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation. Diploma in Stage Craft from a recognized institute or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum three years' related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Certificate in Lighting Entertainment Training an asset. Knowledge of stage lighting, audio video equipment and staging. Completion of a First Aid Level 2 course an asset. Ability to work at various
height levels and climb ladders. Ability to stand, sit, or crawl under staging. Manual dexterity. Must be able to work irregular hours and respond to on-call demands including evenings and weekends. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
