LANDSCAPE GARDENER

ROLE SUMMARY


We are looking for an experienced landscape gardener/softscaper with a passion for plants and horticulture to join our team and help support our growing Garden Care program in Oakville and Burlington.


We care for a variety of gardens - some large, some small, some naturalized and some ornamental - we are seeking someone with the range of experience, who understands what needs to happen within an individual garden to promote plant health, make a site look great in a time-efficient manner and loves working and developing relationships with our wonderful clients and Garden Care team.


JOB CHARACTERISTICS

  • Variety of activities and multiple projects occurring simultaneously
  • Maintaining an oversight of all client gardens and objectives and ensure your team is making progress each week towards those goals
  • Multitasking Sense of urgency for goal achievement within a fastpaced environment
  • Managing scheduling... our priority will be relationships and cultivating longterm connection, but your responsibility will be to balance this with overall time management on site.
  • People/relationships focus, team building to inspire, motivate others, and engage their commitment including sharing garden inspiration with clients
  • Coach and work with your team member (will vary who this is) to jointly achieve objectives and optimize time spent on site.
  • Involve others in decisionmaking process cooperative, collaborative decisionmaking while leading and assuming responsibility for risk
  • Healthy communication with Jenn and Will (exact communication structure TBC), while being proactive in identifying what needs to happen for your clients and their ongoing garden care
  • Extroverted, warm, enthusiastic, empathetic and stimulating communicator
  • Leadership based on ability to motivate others

  • Ensuring a safe, respectful work environment.

  • Understanding your learning style and offering tailored training.
  • Providing appropriate project support to avoid acute fatigue and/or injury.
  • Ensuring reasonably timed breaks to promote wellbeing.
  • Clearly communicating project objectives and expectations.

Contract duration:
September 18th to December 1st (with expectation of year-round contract for 2024)


Compensation:
$25 per hour
