Description
Are you a highly organized self-starter with strong interpersonal and communication skills and exceptional problem solving abilities? If so, we want you on our Engineering Services team as a Waste Reduction Ambassador
- Inspect waste and recycling in carts, other containers, and across multiple locations.
- Collect, record and map information related to waste reduction.
- Assist with analysis and reporting of waste and recycling data.
- Provide public education to support waste reduction initiatives using existing educational programs and resources Provide input into and support the development of educational waste reduction programs.
- Assist with communications and marketing for waste reduction programs and services:
- Contribute content for social media and website.
- Assist with the creation of advertisements, publications and other collateral.
- Respond to public inquiries, concerns, or complaints in a courteous and timely manner.
- Assist in the planning of waste reduction public events.
- Attend public events as an ambassador of the Waste Reduction Office to share educational material programs and projects.
- Other duties as required.
To be successful in this role, you will have a diploma in environmental sciences, public relations or a related field and 6 months of experience in a related role.
You will have demonstrated ability to write, design, produce and deliver educational materials and demonstrated experience with social media marketing.
Additionally, you must have the physical ability to work in all types of terrains in all weather conditions with mínimal supervision and have a valid BC Driver's Licence with a record of safe driving.
Excellent communication skills and an aptitude for working with the public are essential to the success of this role.
This is a CUPE 338 position that works Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, however hours may be adjusted to meet business operations.
