    Job Description

NL Health Services Central zone invites expressions of interest for a full-time equivalent salaried Family Physician to work in a collaborative environment at the Gander and Area Family Care Team based in Gander. NL Health Services is the new Provincial Health Authority of Newfoundland and Labrador providing a full continuum of health and community services, including public health, long-term care, community services, hospital care and unique provincial programs and services across the province.

NL Health Services Central zone is pleased to support its Primary Health Care Providers in achieving its goals of providing exceptional and high-quality care to patients in the Grand Falls-Windsor Gander and Gander Bay region.

This Family Care Team is a core and satellite model involving the establishment of a main campus or core, which houses the most intensive medical services, complemented by smaller satellite clinics, which offer arrays of service where healthcare needs are addressed locally. In cases where more intensive medical interventions are required, patients are routed to the most appropriate provider at the nearest clinic within the care team. This model is designed to meet the needs of the population while being fiscally responsible in human resource distribution.

Gander would act as the core for service delivery in this position. The satellite site in Gander Bay would serve those areas and are connected to the larger team. The core and satellite model for providing service to the population within the Gander and Gander Bay catchment area includes special consideration to geography, demographics, and the social determinants of health. The in person clinical duties would be split between Holyrood and St Mary's clinics, with support as needed to other sites. Patient care is supported by a team of health professionals in core and satellite sites.

The successful physician will manage a roster of patients as per normal practice with the added benefit of the team for support in meeting patient care needs. Our ideal candidate will have a strong patient focus and excellent communication skills with a keen interest in practicing in a collaborative team approach. Hours of work may need flexibility to offer clinics during the daytime, after-hours and on weekends to meet patient needs and team operations. Documentation is completed using the EMR Med Access platform.

All applicants must be licensed (full or provisional) to practice by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador and must be granted privileges by NL Health Services Central zone. Provisionally licensed physicians will have to comply with College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador requirements for oversight and monitoring.

Central Health is an equal opportunity employer.
We thank all candidates however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
