THE ROLE:


Reporting directly to the BC General Manager, the Production Supervisor directs, supervises and coordinates the resources, specific tasks and related processes for the production department.

Ensures that internal customers are satisfied and fulfilled with outputs and responsiveness. Follows at all times BakeMark's guiding principals of Best Practices as both process improvement and cultural attitude. Continually reviews operations processes in order to maximize productivity, increase profitability, improve efficiency and quality. Assists the production supervisor as required and work on special projects as assigned by the General Manager.

PRINCIPAL/ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Production Administration

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures as directed by the General Manager or other company management regarding safety, operating methods, and behaviour.
  • Ensures that all supervised employees are operating within established company and governmental regulations.
  • Review results by analyzing available information; compare them to company objectives and takes steps to Improve results.
  • Trains new and existing employees on proper operation and safety procedures.
  • Prepares work schedules as directed by General Manager, and expedites workflow in conjunction with General Manager, reviews amount of work to be done, estimates manhours needed to complete work and insures work is complete within the allotted time.
  • Ensures proper plant cleanliness is maintained at all times.
  • Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of products.
  • Reviews production orders schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to General Manager for action.
  • Compiles, stores and retrieves production data.
  • Follows up on all customer requests and questions to ensure appropriate response is made and customer is satisfied.
  • Treats all customers (both internal and external) with respect, courtesy and kindness.
  • Upholds and complies with policies and attitudes adopted by the company.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety rules as stated in the Employee Handbook and otherwise posted or communicated.
  • Exemplify the BakeMark core values of Partnership, Performance, Passion, and Initiative in all aspects of assigned duties.
  • All other duties as assigned to reach Company goals.
  • Coordinates inventory cycles counts as per the set procedure and reports all inventory discrepancies with reasons and solutions to the General Manager.
  • Records daily employee productivity and makes available to the General Manger.
  • Manages and reports all safety, repairs and maintenance requirements to the General Manager.
  • Processes and follows up on WorkSafeBC injury reports as required and participates in the OHS Committee.
  • Ensures the facility is maintained and ensure facility audits are performed as to the set procedure and followup on shortcomings.
  • Purchases warehouse supplies within the budgeted guidelines as required.

Human Resources

  • Leads, guides, trains and motivates all production staff (up to 20) to meet company goals and expectations.
  • Ensures all employee issues are addressed within the guidelines as stated in the Collective Agreement including grievances and disciplinary action. Report all issues to the General Manager.
  • Summarizes payroll and vacation benefits for all warehouse employees every two weeks and submits to the payroll department.
