  • Responsibilities:_
  • Craft mold components, involving a range of tasks such as roughing out mold pieces, stabilizing workpiece materials, producing cores, lifters, inserts, slides, cavities, and detailed parts. Conclude with meticulous final inspections, thorough documentation, precise material identification, and strategic workpiece positioning.
  • Perfectly finish and polish the molding surface, employing a discerning approach to handfinishing tool selection, thorough cleaning, and deburring of mold surfaces. Artfully detail the workpiece, eradicating tool and cutter marks, and ensuring impeccable contours. Conclude with a flawless final finish to the mold surface, meticulous work documentation, and seamless workpiece handling.
  • Conduct precise workinprogress measurements and checks utilizing specialized, highprecision tools and equipment, ensuring the utmost accuracy and quality in every stage of the process.
  • Expertly design, construct, and skillfully repair molds and models integral to the mass production of plastic or metal components and products.
  • Precisely fit and assemble molds, covering essential actions such as transferring and accurately locating holes, meticulously sizing and fitting mold components, scrutinizing cooling and heating circuits, and expertly installing mold components in the spotting press. Conduct meticulous mold spotting, thorough final inspections, and precise installations of ejector and runner system components. Complete the process by ensuring seamless workpiece movement and detailed documentation.
  • Strategize and outline a comprehensive plan for the moldbuilding process, encompassing tasks such as verifying key features of mold components, devising and structuring a mold build plan, conducting precise moldbuilding calculations, ensuring the assembly and validation of tooling stock materials, creating detailed sketches of mold components, fabricating tooling aids for the moldbuilding process, arranging templates, and producing accurate templates.
  • Craft highprecision mold components utilizing a range of equipment, from conventional to numerically controlled metalcutting machines, including saws, drills, grinders, lathes, mills, and EDMs.
  • Utilize a forklift to efficiently move molds and mold components throughout the shop and prepare them for tryouts, deftly managing weights of up to 5,000 lbs.
  • Adhere unfailingly to customer standards concerning all tool designs and strictly follow internal lean manufacturing guidelines.
  • Employ an overhead crane to expertly transport molds and mold components within the shop, facilitating their seamless setup in presses, even when weighing up to 50,000 lbs.
  • Interpret intricate engineering drawings and workprocess documentation with precision and expertise.
  • Qualifications:_
  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience as a mold maker
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent is required
  • Ability to perform under pressure and work independently
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines as required
  • Ability to ensure quality standards are met
  • Strong attention to detail is required
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication and relationship building skills
  • Proficient in time management and communication skills
