Team Lead - Cable & Harness


The Team Lead - Cable and Harness is key for overseeing the assembly of all cable components and harness assemblies for outgoing products.

This pivotal position ensures a safe, orderly and consistent operation so that we maintain a quality standard in all cable and harness products assembled and through accurate documentation and following procedures.

Conducting consistent throughput effectively and efficiently to satisfy both internal and external customer requirements.


Duties:


DAILY ASSEMBLY OF CABLE AND HARNESS COMPONENTS FOR PRODUCTS BY:

  • Overseeing the pull and cutting of the wire and cable for the assembly from large spooled inventory.
  • Ensuring that the stripping of the outer casing on the cable is prepared for the connector assembly.
  • Training staff to follow the standard quality procedures and ensure that the processes are understood and followed.
  • Overseeing and performing tasks such as soldering, crimping and manually assembling various cable components such as connectors and plugs based upon the specifications from drawings.
  • Troubleshooting and forecast to eliminate unforeseen problems and communicating with the Production Manager all issues with the quality of the product that could cause delays to the production schedule.
  • Organize the department to work toward the production schedule in conjunction with other lead hands and report to the Production Manager about any delays in the timelines.
  • Manage the quality and quantities of tools required on the line and discuss with the Production Manager areas that require improvement or replacement.
  • Performing various quality control trials to ensure that the assembled product is of high standard quality.

MAINTAINING ACCURATE DOCUMENTATION AND PROCEDURES BY:

  • Completing documentation including checklists and procedures used by Assembly and Quality Control.
  • Maintaining records of current assembly drawings and reporting any problems with the drawings or deviations from the drawings by staff to the Production Manager.

FOLLOW COMPANY OPERATING PROCEDURES BY:


  • Following the procedures laid out in the department to ensure our manufacturing quality.
  • Understand and practice the Company procedures and policies pertaining to the workplace's Health and Safety.
  • Assist the Production Manager or Managing Director with other tasks as required.
  • Provide feedback to Production Manager and any positive changes necessary.
  • Ensure housekeeping and cleanliness of the workspace areas.
  • Attend and occasionally prepare and present material for production meetings.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of temporary staff members for new hires.
  • Assist in the yearend performance review process
  • Assist in the yearend inventory process in a lead role.

Qualifications:


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to write procedures
  • Ability to communicate the goals and objectives to staff members
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, soldering and crimping tools and other tools to perform duties in the cable and harness assembly role.
  • Understanding of tolerances of parts
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and MS Outlook
  • Detailoriented
  • Professional work ethics
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as specification drawings or blueprints, procedure manuals, safety rules, and operating and maintenance instructions. Ability to communicate effectively.

Education and Experience:


  • High school level education or work experience in the same field of manufacturing Experience working in a warehouse environment for 3 years
  • Experience supervising or leading hand in a manufacturing environment Quality Assurance is an asset, but not required. Trade school certificate an asset, but not required
